Thank you for my brilliant ad in the last edition of Melbourne Senior Scene! All the staff were very helpful in putting my ad and editorial together.

I will have no hesitation in advertising again and look forward to receiving the call/s with all their offers.

Everything about the company is fantastic. The people, culture, management. Have been a long time employee of this business just short of a decade. Such a fun, welcoming workplace.
To start with, the most amazing part of this company is it does not let you feel like you are a employee. It feels like a family The people are all super nice and friendly, probably because we are all treated with respect. Really relaxed, family style atmosphere. Work is breezey and wages above what you would expect. Love this job!

Anon- SO SORRY WEAVER!

Hi Firstly I'm sorry to Edward, Michelle and especially the children. I was a friend of the person who is causing many of these disgusting reviews. He asked me to put some reviews up as he recently started his business similar to what Weaver does I won't mention his name but he did work for you. But when I noticed he started attacking them on a personal level and not about his business and mentioning their CHILDREN I was so appalled and couldn't believe it! I worry for the children they are beautiful and innocent and don't deserve this. I did not think he would go that low. On a personal level I really don't think Ed and Michelle are bad people at all and I lose sleep thinking what I got involved with. I'm so sorry. I hope you are okay. To everyone who has read things about them please don't take notice, it is unfair and to put anyone through that especially innocent children. You are great parents and I wish I never got involved. Im sorry. To Mr Making Trouble please stop it has gone way too far now and if the Police see this you will probably be in very big trouble. Enough is enough they are hard working people who deserve to be left alone. What started off as something about their business has now escalated to attacking them and their family personally That is wrong and I want nothing todo with it anymore

Greatful Employee

I have worked for this company for 10 years and I have always been very well looked after. I come in do my job as expected and go home. The training when I first started was great and the on-going training and support is fantastic.
They are kind enough to give everyone a go but the attitude for many people is shocking. There is no gratitude, there is very little effort put in and they expect to keep their job. Very unprofessional and lazy people or don't want to work and expect so much. Whatever happened to good old fashioned working hard for your money! But not everyone is like this of course, the team here now are great, I love them. The people that have put reviews up that used to work here are the people that came in and made no effort, gossiped like school children and expected the world to own them
Its a great Company, great boss's, great place to work and they are family orientated

Previous worker

I worked for this company last year for a short time - for less than a week in fact. I applied, got a call the same day and was told to come in the following day. From the moment I got there the whole business appeared unprofessional. I received no induction - I only was told to sit and listen to a caller without double jacking (just sitting without headphones). I was not told about any specifics of the business or product I would be selling, and after an hour without any actual training or education, I was told to start making calls without a script. There was no database or system in place for cold-calling. I was told to google anything that I thought appealed to seniors, and then called random people, claiming to be an executive looking to make a feature spread in this magazine on a particular topic. I was not given a script, no information on the product or specifics, so when customers would ask questions; I had no idea what to reply. In my time there I saw about 8 staff leave. My first day there I had seen two ex-workers come to get money after being let go, and they told me if you don't make a sale after 2 days, you're out. Each day people would walk out or would be fired if they didn't make a sale. It was embarrassing and humiliating to work for this "company", having to call random people and get them to purchase ad space for a Magazine that I was unsure of actually existing, and providing what we were supposedly selling. I do not know if this is a legitimate company, all I know is that it is an unprofessional one with no protocols and training, and will say anything to get your money. Often I'd make calls to people who had already dealt with this business, and would tell me about complaints, which unfortunately I had no way of helping. I would avoid business with Weaver newspapers, both as a consumer and employee.

I have been scammed by these people too in May of this year for an advert for our holiday accommodation. I will be reporting them to ASIC, Consumer Affairs etc. I want all my money refunded. I'm glad I still have all the emails dealing with these people.

I WORKED HERE

I received a call last week regarding employment. They told me the pay rate ($25 an hour) and that drew me in straight away as well as the fact that it was a Monday-Friday gig. I came in on Monday and sat with 4 others whilst we got a rushed and brief talk about what we have to do (which was basically making phone call after phone call and reading out the script provided). I was assigned with a different publication to the rest; the 2018 Directory of Services guide. I was given no information about this publication and was thrown in the deep end without any training provided. It was as if they were hiding something. I was told to call trades which the elderly rely on and try make a sale. I was also told to lie about multiple things which is crazy now I look back on other reviews and realise everything included in the script I was given regarding prices and guarantees was a complete scam and load of bullsh*t. I only lasted 2 days here. I left this morning after 30 minutes of being there because I was so sick and tired of making countless calls to busy tradesmen and lying to their ears and then having them abuse me which I knew they had every right to do so. This whole company is a scam. They are money hungry, shifty and most of all they are employing young people regardless of their qualifications or experiences and preying on them to lie for them and make them money. So glad I left and I hope they pay me for the two full days I worked like they said they would otherwise I’ll be taking it further.

The messages on this webpage are amazing - some obviously made by Ed Weaver and his doubtful associates themselves. Others by employees and others. like myself who were the targets of unsuccessful scams. Who gives credit card details over the phone to someone you have never heard of - including the CVC number??? Buyer (and employee) beware of this shady mob. No doubt this post will be deleted like so many others. Next move should be ASIC and Consumer Affairs. I was accused of being "un-Australian". Good luck Mr Weaver with your form of Australiana!

I am to a victim of this company. Money taken from my business without any product produced - bowling cards. Fair trading did investigate on my behalf, and concluded with a warning towards this company. My next step is the tribunal. However, I think people like this have no morals, and so they don't belong in society. I believe in the saying you reap what you sow. Therefore one day the people hurt by this company will have satisfaction.

Paid back in early January , got told my ad will show on the next magazine run, we in March now (3 month ) later & still NO ad , these people are useless, once they take your money , they stop answering your calls / emails . Also the general manager there is pretty stupid , never gets back to you , every time you call to speak to somebody, they either got the day off , or in a meeting, or on a break and never return your calls, I have giving them till end of this week for a refund , otherwise I have seeked a legal advice & will be taking this matter further , do yourself a favor, never sign up with these clowns , there is a lot off better ones out there ,

The fast talking salespeople up-sold us to a half page, nation wide advertisement on page 2 for our holiday apartments for a year (4 issues). One copy of one 'Senior Scene' finally appeared today and we have a tiny ad on page 14.
When one tries to find a way to contact Senior Scene, there is only a link (in very fine print) to http://seniorsbook.com.au/ which has no link to "Senior Scene"

We will be much quicker to block their phone calls in future.
