I called back number (03) 9046 5200 reached IVR for the Diabetes Victoria. Caller: Diabetes Australia
One it's the ndss a government operated department, two it's to verify the number can handle SMS, three don't believe the crap people are saying on here they don't ask for banking details or credit card they are simply giving you your ndss number for discounted goods at a pharmacy of your choice otherwise you pay full price for the strips 100 plus as you can't get a concession without the ndss number, they don't ask you to buy anything as it's provided free of charge to anyone diagnosed with diabetes from the ndss

This number rang repeatedly. I didn’t recognize the number, so I didn’t answer it for quite a while, after several calls I answered and had some asshat trying to hard sell me membership to diabetes victoria. This was the first call I had after being diagnosed a week before with Type 1 diabetes. It was incredibly depressing to have a predatory organization trying to gauge me for money when I was already depressed about my diagnosis.
It really seems that rather than offering support these bastards see us as an atm or a vulnerable population to exploit. Bravo... great form.

Only recorded music-no one spoke so I hung up!!!
answered the call "hello this is (insert first name)" instantly went to hold music then they hung up. all within a few seconds. Silence on the other end for 21 seconds, then they hung up Caller: no answer
no answer just music when i answer partner also received same caller
I was asked for a payment of $33. Got on this to check the number. Calls me everyday, harassment. Number blocked, doesn't work. I am not Diabetic, so don't know why they are calling, extremely frustrating. recorded music no answer fed up with unsolicited callers, so I just hang up Caller: Thought it was scam but actually NDSS
They called my husband who had just been diagnosed type 1 and tried to coerce him into buying a “special” on the spot and demanding his credit card number..... if this is a real service they should be prosecuted for back practice I my opinion
I have just joined Diabetes group NDSS and this morning had been told of my NDSS number. Just now I received a call on my landline from (03) 9046 5200 but no-one was there and they hung up. Immediately they rang my mobile. This time I heard the music but no-one ever answered and then they hung up again.
Are they checking if numbers are valid? I don't like the sound of other comments where this number keeps on doing this. I will discuss it with my diabetic educator.
