Caller: John Edward Employee No. 693255

Claim to be from Telstra and I am not a Telstra customer. Very convincing, showing me a lot of event issues with my computer and then ask me to go to Teamviewer to down TeamView setup. But when I check further calling (03) 9018 6665, he started to say 4 letter words, etc. Said he will cut my broadband link. So I told him to go ahead. So far, my broadband is working. This is a scammer and he is trying to get access your computer to get banking information.

This is really a scammer

Call supposedly from Telstra Technical Support, phone id said call was from (07) 3502 1629 - however when I asked what number to call relating to this problem the guy quoted (03) 9018 6665. David said my internet was being cut off in two hours because of a compromised line. He then attempted to get me to give the log in details of our account. Total scammer - he ended up hanging up on me when I kept questioning him. He gave job # of D52333

Indian accent Guy called Friday afternoon and told, our internet will be disconnected, as hacker tried to steal our money from bank account. And he told their senior technician will call soon. Indian accent Sharon called and asked to do remote control my PC to check something. Because of her accent and quick talking, I could not understand all of her said. And she told she will call back Monday morning.
Monday, Sharon called and told, hacker tried to steal money from my bank account amount of 20000 dollar. Telstra want to catch a hacker and need my help. Telstra give me 500 dollar and 3 month free of use internet.
What I did for her;
1 Telstra deposit 20500 (20000 hacker want to steal, 500 gift to me) to my Paypal account. I login paypal for her
2 She asked to check router and tell her how many light in on, I told her this is not Telstra router. She was not care
3 She show me Telstra deposit 20500 to my Paypal account (She may made fake screen during I check router)
4 She asked me go to Bank and withdrew 20000 by cash and follow her next instruction

I told her, I cannot withdrew real money. She strongly said do it for Telstra. I told, I cannot leave home. How I tell bank officer to withdrew such big amount. She said, tell bank officer to use home improvement. She keep talking even I told I need to stay home.

Finally, I asked her Employee ID and her department in Telstra. And told her, I will call Telstra head office and find you, if I can find you, I will trust you. And stop call.

This is my 86 yo mother’s Telstra account. They may attack elder persons.
I was fool, but I missed my and my mother’s time both of Friday and Monday.
And I need to all reset Paypal account etc. Ha...

Caller type: Scam call
Location: Australia
Caller: John Edwards

John Edwards with Indian accent called form Internet Provider, and later said Telstra IT to fix my computer for malicious malware. Gave his address as 242 Exhibition St and contact no (03) 9018 6665.
Went through usual routine typing into Run dialogue box, to see errors and warnings (these happen on every system, so nothing to be concerned about).
I asked him what my Telstra customer I.D was...……..he couldn't answer...….but went on to say he new my Customer Licence Number, which I don't have. Again into Run box to type in assoc, to have a number in the list. I suspect, again, appears on all computers.
The thing that gets me, is this is 4th call today asking same thing, and I have had many in past, Besides I am not a Telstra customer. Have promised to ring John back, but after first checking his number on this site, now unnecessary.
