Caller: Recorded message

A recorded message (with a robot voice) saying they were from the Tax Department and there was a lawsuit filed against my name, if I did not call back I would be arrested.

Claimed to be from Australian Federal Police stating I had an outstanding ATO debt and that because I hadn't responded to mail, they had a warrant for my arrest. Firstly, the gentleman wasn't Australian and wouldn't answer my questions when I asked him more details about it. I'll be honest, it scared the sh*t out of me for a bit until my wife listened in as well and pointed out that it was a scam. Reported it to the ATO

I didn't answer. It left a voice mail which said the reason for this message is that a lawsuit is filed against me.

It is a scam.

I received a similar voice message.

I had the same message. The ATO issue letters, they don't call, especially like that. So ignore this.

Obviously this is the IRS scam with an Australian flavour. DO NOT CALL BACK and *definitely* DO NOT GIVE PERSONAL INFORMATION.

The ATO never, *ever* calls you. They do not file lawsuits against you and they do not arrest you.

"If we don't hear from you, we have to issue arrest warrants under your name and get you arrested." Well, that sounds super convincing and not at all a scam.

Robot voice, definitely a spam call

The number that called into my phone was 061390136532 but I didn't answer. A male American robot voice left a message, "The moment you received this message I want you to get back to my on my department number on (03) 9013 6532, I repeat 03 90136532. Now if we don't hear from you we have issue an arrest warrant under your name and arrest you, thank you goodbye"

Same here, just received the call this morning. Pretty sure is a scam, not gonna waste my time to respond.

Claiming to be from Tax department about legal proceedings... called back... not real
