This is the second call of the same nature but from a different phone number to the first call. I Emailed the CDPP and they assured me it is a SCAM and is registered with the Federal Police.
An Automated phone call from the office of CDPP Representing the ATO Australian taxation office. A Petition note has been issued and an arrest warrant is immenient, Registered letter returned and address is under surveillance.
No names are mention or address given.

Today I received a message on my answerphone. "This message is automated from the CDPP Commonwealth Dep't of Public Prosecutions on behalf of the ATO Australia Taxation Office" then it went on in a man's voice. It wasn't automated because he stumbled a few times!! Apparently an arrest warrant is out for me, my address is under surveillance and registered letters have been returned unsigned. I was to ring this number back. What a laugh!!

Same call message left on our message bank today that we are under surveillance and about to be prosecuted through the courts with a return call number of (03) 8652 1654 . Is the same mob that are fixing Microsoft Computer software for people that don't own a computer ?

Yep me too. Exactly the same for me. CDPP representing ATO. House under surveillance - arrest warrant out - unsigned registered letters returned etc, etc. Scared my wife when she got the message but I was certain it was a scam.

I received the same answering machine message yesterday. I thought it was a scam but rang the number to find out who answered. I told them I had a message to ring back, they asked my phone number and from that they told me my name. They then said everything that everyone else has been saying on here. I am aware of these type of things and I'm vigilant but they were very convincing & I was concerned for a while. I ended up hanging up. I hope no one has fallen for this and lost money. These mongrels need to be caught.

I received the same call (automated message) from a man with an ascent (English or Irish) on my messages. He says he is from the CDPP and calling on behalf of the taxation office (ATO). He claims I will receive registered mail and that I am under surveillance. The number he wants me to call is (03) 8652 1654.

Seems like they are still at it. My mother received the exact same call as Cari on her answer machine yesterday. She saved it for me to listen to, I told her it was a scam but she is really spooked about it. Really helpful to read all of your comments. Glad the authorities are on to it. A worry though as she also has a privately listed number.

I received the same phone message yesterday and this morning received a scam email advising of a refund from the ATO. The email contained a link (which I did not open) that would be requesting personal information so the refund could be made. There is some interesting information on the (real!!) ATO website regarding such scams.

I have a new silent phone number....how do these scammers get my phone number????
This is not the first time they have called and left messages.. I have his ugly voice recorded but nothing can be done??? Do not call them back. I have been advised some innnocent elderly people who panicked have called back and released funds to these horrible people BEWARE!!!!!

I had the same automated message on my phone from CDPP. It showed up as overseas on my home phone. Nuisance

Received 2 yesterday on our answering machine

2 missed recordings, deep foreign voice claimed to be from the CDPP representing the ATO on a claim against me, advising I am under surveillance...wow.

Received a call at 5:30 am with the same info as Minitray and Ali saying our house in under surveillance by the ATO

Similar call to the above except I spoke to a person named Ricky Simon, claiming he was from ATO fraud division. I asked for a number to call him back. Also asked where he was calling from - answer Melbourne, Docklands. I haven't returned the call - figured he would probably call again if I don't call him. Sounded to be making up info to give me as he was talking.

I was told to call this number on a automated message from the tax office. The original call was overseas private number. The message said I had an arrest warrant out on me and my house was under surveillance. I've got no problems with the ATO. All up to date etc and I'm not involved in criminal activities :-) not a good way to start the day though.
