Received a call twice in the past week from (03) 8635 3000. Straight after no one leaving a message 1/2/2017 I and reading the previous comments on here I decided to call the number back. It went through all the Origin Energy Prompts and when my account was looked up on the system. There was no record of the call being made ever. They said its a random call to existing customers. Good thing Im changing to another provider. Scam call by the sounds of it

Origin energy calling to ask if i have any means of life support at my home and needed to confirm my details. Very bad quality reception so i will call origin myself to continue the conversation.

Origin Retention Team - Not really a Scam just a team of outbound callers who are paid to try and return customers that have churned to other energy providers.

I asked them to take my name from their list and they agreed politely.

They phoned a couple of days ago, the second time in a year or so. They ask for my wife's name without giving theirs. I simply hung up. The previous occasion, the fellow was so insistent on asking whether such-and-such a person was there (my wife's name), while refusing to give his own name, that I had to dismiss him abusively.

I work for Origin and this number is the generic number for most agents based in Melbourne when they make outbound calls.
The line seems to lead to a few voice prompts which is an improvement from a dead line.

Several missed calls, no msg left. Classic telemarketer ploy with call volume targets to achieve. It would seem Do Not Call register is irrelevent to these operators.

Origin PR gang. If you changed power providers or cancelled an account with Origin then I wouldn't bother answering the call. A very competitive market breeds aggressive idiotic corporate behaviour.

PISSED..Claims to be origin. Its blocked now after returning their call. I rung the correct Origin number and they verified no-one has accessed my account which was a relief.

It is legit. Origin called and was leaving a message about my account, giving the company's name and the caller's name when I picked up and took the call.
The guy was polite although I was less than friendly as I have had problems with that company.
Don't know if they cold-call people who have no account with them.
