That 5 second gap is the give-away, isn't it. If you're really annoyed, take the call,and say "Your call is important to us, please stay on the line. You are seventeenth in the queue". Two can play this crappy game. Repeat this several times if you want. If your caller is super patient, you can always deny the presence of the decision-maker after all that.
