i said HELLO four times. Sounded like a dead line. I stayed on the phone and its like they un muffled the speaker for a split second then hung up. How do they get our number? Ive had this number for 17 years and i only have 32 contacts on my list. Every contact thats on my list, i have theirs in return. Im funny about giving my number out and dont enter competitions and i also have NEVER given this number to any billing companies....nobody has it exept close friends

I had missed this call, then they called my husband, its AGL

Pretended to be checking for Directory Assistance listings. SPAM, SPAM, SPAM. Tried to ring back, no luck

Same for me as well. I suggest you all contact the do not call register and register your mobile number with them.

This must be a outsourcing centre as i just got a call this time it was from some one calling on behalf of the federal government insulation trying to organise inspection times to have it checked. I did not give her my details she already knew them. So given the differetn replies from people for the same number i think its a safe bet that its a call centre

they ring as private numbers then switch to this number up to ten times a day these rats need to be rid of

yes"well"it would seem this number has been calling plenty, myslf included. 1st ? is it a scam,why can nobody tell us who they are for a start, i've tried 2 times with no answers. well i've got one for you (03) 8416 1400 (f--k--f).

I just got 3 missed calls so I tried calling the number back... the phone rings 3 times and hangs up... very fishy

Same problem as everyone else - no voice just nuisance calls.

Had above 'silence/hang-up' call x3 times today. Then I found this page. Same number called again while still looking and I 'put-a-voice-on' this time. The silence came good and the caller asked for me by name, and said they were from one of my valid utility providers. The background noise did sound like a call centre. I was still sceptical and asked for a number to call them back on. It might just be some call centre employee's trying to score points on the cheap by *making* more calls for clients. BOTTOM LINE: NEVER GIVE OUT YOUR DETAILS TO RANDOMS - CALL THEM BACK ON THE NUMBER IN THE PHONE BOOK

same thing as joan but i get this almost on a weekly basis and no one can tell who or what they are

I just received a call from this number.  have been getting one call per day for the last 3 days.  Always the same thing, I answer and it disconnects - I call them back and it disconnects.  Thanks for the info on this site, I know my bills are paid up so from now I will be ignoring

bloody idoiot from AGL called my mobile on this number, asked me for date of birth etc put me on hold ??? came back and i started questioning him on what he wanted?? and he said i need to confirm your phone number before i can proceed with any information!!! oh i told the idiot off and hung up.
lucky i googled this number and read what everyone has written i can't believe it.

I had the exact same call today, from a fool trying to pass himself off as an official from AGL. 

This is what I said:

I believe that you mean to say that you're an independent debt collecting agency that is contracted by AGL. Congratulations, you just committed false representation. I'm a law student, I should know. 

What other illicit acts would you like to commit? Perhaps, harass me over a certain gas bill valued at $210 that was paid two days before the end due date (of which I have a post office bill-pay receipt)? 

I suggest that you apologise and hang up, to avoid any further legal action taken because of your stupidity.

I have been getting calls from this number for months, they never pick up when you return them, but a couple fot time when I have answered they say they are AGL, but always let slip they are a debt collection company. I have no AGL debt and when I call AGL directly they don't know of these calls, They are very annoying

two missed calls at 18.46 and 18.48 on 20/4/2010.  this will be reported to ACMA as i am on the do not call register.  registered my number more than a month ago so they are in breach of the act.
