I had two missed calls from this number , when I ring back the phone rings out.Possible scam I received a call from this number today. The male voice sounded Indian and he told me he wasn't selling anything and asked me not to hang up as he was checking to see if I would qualify for Government assistance. He asked me a series of questions such as what industry I was employed in, age range and children. I gave silly answers such as rocket science, 96 years old with 18 children so he hung up. I believe this is a scam to try to obtain personal information. Don't fall for it! There was a strange males voice that did not seem to be English. We called back and they answered but did not respond. We were not sure if they are a scam or just checking if there was someone home. Called this evening, I didn't answer but it went to voicemail which recorded a background of 'Indian' sounding male voices but seemingly unaware that they were being recorded. I have blocked the number, this same scenario has been happening with another Melbourne number and that one asked for my ex-husband by name and knew what industry he worked in, haven't been together for years, so goodness knows where their data is coming from....anyway, no harm done. they called last week on my way home from work, answered as you do. some asian sounding guy said i am conducting a survey and wanted to know what type of industry i work at i said please do not call me. hung up. called again tonight just now at 6.15pm asking what post code i live in and i said please take me off the list do not call again and he said we dont care we will keep calling, he also kept saying please dont hang up i am not trying to sell anything to you... lol blocked there number. dont know what sort of company lets their employees say they will keep calling back if i dont give them the information They state they are from the ABS. Scam Called me several times yesterday when I couldn't take the call. I called back and got a "please check the number before calling again" message. I've blocked them. Hate scammers. These cocksuckers have been calling my phone on and off for close to 4 years now. Even when you ask the to stop calling or just abuse them they keep calling. Can't ring back now as the number comes up as unlisted. Def scam but not sure what they achieve by constantly calling and being abused. Same as others, call but no one there. I have blocked them Scam agents Said they were from Australian Bureau of Statistics. After a couple of questions said I qualified for "free" information shut down call saying would report for misleading and deceptive conduct. Clearly some form of scam. They told me they were from Aust Bureau of Statistics, (taking advantage of the SSM debate)
I hung up immediately best way to shut these up.
aggressive survey Blocked now thank you.
What about the Haig?
INDIAN SCAM calls based on decade old personal info sold in the black market
Heavy indian accent, first caller claimed she was from Australian Bureau of Statistics and they do a survey every 5 years. I just gave her all the wrong answers about my personal info as I know any legit company or aus govt would never just call and ask for any sort of info!
Another day second caller called and started asking the same questions. I just wasted their time again. Regardless, they kept calling me every hour from 9am to 7pm for the next 1 week.
I know for a fact that 10yr my old address is still circulating in the black market. They have that address, not my current one... surprise surprise!!
LOVE IT - i sometimes 'play' with them by offering silly answers if i am, say, standing at the stove for 20 minutes stirring a risotto and feeling feisty. i have never considered 18 children though - definitely will use this!! Number called me on my mobile, (female caller, sounded like an Indian accent) claimed to be "Employee Benefit Services". The alarming thing was, they appeared to know I worked in "Aviation Transport Industry" and my wife in "Education", which is accurate. So they are getting personal data from somewhere. I asked how they knew this information. Claimed I had answered a survey on <indistinct>. However they then said I lived at a NSW postcode which I have not lived in for over a decade.
Then I challenged caller: what is the name of your company and what is its website? Caller said "pardon?" and I repeated my question. Caller then hung up.
A heavy Asian accent female voice rang asking to confirm my address to send out financial advice information that my husband had requested. I was preoccupied at the time and thinking my husband may have requested information. I confirmed everything with a yes. Derrrrrrrrr I had not heard of the "Yes scammers" using your voice to use your identity. Now I am really worried. I have contacted my financial Institutes and blocked all usage but I am worried about other identity fraud also. My friend and I were Skype calling and my friend got a call. This guy with a heavy Australian accent started yelling down the phone saying "STOP USING MY WIFI, I PAY GOOD MONEY FOR MY WIFI GET YOUR OWN". The problem was, he was in Melbourne, we don't even live in Melbourne. He kept talking and my friend kept just answering 'ok'. This guy is insane but judging by the comments I've seen it might be a scam to see where people live but who knows. If he calls you tell him your Russian and can't understand english. One call from this dude who called me 'mate', wanted to do a 10 second survey. He got angry when I asked him what he was calling for and then I hung up. He tried calling me three more times but I didn't respond.
