Caller: Greenwall or something like that Unsolicited call from a human (not robot call), asking if I had received a free energy saving device (which I haven't received - second call I've received about this rubbish). I suspect it's an opt-in type of scam.

Caller: Said they were from Green Energy Wanted to know if I had received my “free” energy saving device. Told them not interested and to remove my number from their database or I will report them for harassing calls as this is about the sixth of these calls in the last few weeks

Keep on getting calls from this number. They never leave a msg. Obviously either scammers or telemarketers. Either way extremely annoying when they keep trying, even when you never answer. Give it up numbskulls.

Caller: They know my name... Called bang on 8pm. The answering machine kicked in and a male voice at the other end announced my name -- their pronunciation wasn't very good because they're not from these parts. Then the caller hung up. Blocked.

Caller: contact centre Yes the device is free, but the operation is a scam. They get a commission from the installer who then gets a lead, the objective is the up-sell and standover sales.
This has happened with insulation, with set top TV boxes (free but then pensioners in their seventies got threatened with violence over a $1000 bill for the "antenna").
They are crooks. These devices are not suitable for the layperson, and may require you to be standing quite close to them with a bluetooth connection to a tablet or phone. You have to use their (possibly spyware ridden) app as well. They only work with a smart meter. Plus you need a Doctorate in data science and analytics to read the reports. What are you going to do? Take cold showers and turn your fridge off overnight?
