A recorded message - This is a scam claiming to be the tax office and that your address is under survelliance and to be in touch with lawyers and that you have avoided paying taxes etc.

Just had a call from this number. Apparently I have a warrant out for my arrest and my home is being watched. The accent I got was a South African accent. I didn't call them back as I had heard about these calls before. They also use an 02 number.

Like all other complaints,my recording threatened me with arrest and so forth,I rang the Tax department and they advised me to call the Police as they would not have made such a call, SCAM

Got the message too which is weird because we use our mobile numbers on our tax. And the little amount we get back is not worth fighting for. So I just want to say to the thieving scum. Get a job!! And work hard like the rest of us so FO!!!

I recieved a call telling me my Energy bill was going to be reduced from the next billing cycle. They had my address but none of the household bills come in my name. After listening to crap for a few minutes about rate drops, the guy then asked me to confirm my personal details. Scam to get more info on you...

Received a call from this number today. Fortunately, I missed it. In my attempt to log the number into my "blocked calls" box, I accidently rang the number. It was a recording for an Electricity Company or similar. Apparently my "call is important to them". Yeah right.

Missed the call, called number back. Number shows as being a south Gippsland number yet person the end of the line (with a thick accent) said he was from blah blah blah electricity company in Southbank. NOPE. I may have said some swear words, a bit of a threat thrown in and then hung up. So over these scumbags!

Fwits call me up at 7pm saying that they are offering me cheaper electricity rates and can beat my current provider.. They knew my name address and phone number they called several times after I hung up on them

Received recorded message stating that it was the ATO and there is a warrant out for my arrest for tax evasion. Call came through on (03) 5116 1906 and message asked to call back on (03) 6121 4129.

Has anyone actually contacted the ATO and reported them. I think you will find it is a federal offence to iimpersonate the ATO.

Received this on my answering machine...same as above-mentioned....ATO Fraud and arrest threat...obviously crap as they didn't have any of my details and did not ask for me specifically. I wish our government would do more to stop these scammers!!!

The usual story. they are the ATO, I owed an amount of money that the chap with a thick Indian accent couldn't tell me how much but that they were going to have me arrested if I didn't pay within 48 hours. I laughed at him and told him to f*** off

Caller stated they are were from the commonwealth dept of prosecutions however the correct name is "Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions" they stated it was 6.30 pm however it was 6pm Victorian time. l also only got this information after calling the number back untill they spoke to me. At first they just hung up but after many attempts I'm sure l became very annoying and they decided to ask what l wanted, I stated l was just returning their call.

Received a message stating they were from the ATO and an arrest warrant was being issued. They need to get a real job before they get locked up for fraud.

Called the number, said I was John Smith calling from XX (a number I made up) and asked what it was about. They pretended to get some records. Strong accent.

Case to be “executed into Commonwealth Courthouse”, referred to DPP, blah blah legal speak. Claimed I willfully defrauded ATO etc. etc.

Said they will publish my name & details in local media. Will seize driver’s licence & passport.
Wouldn’t actually explain specifically what I’d allegedly done or how much I supposedly owed. Just wanted to pump me for info.
Almost certainly an identity theft scam.

Got a recorded message from 'taxation department' (not 'Australian'). No identifying file number. Recording said letters sent to my registered address had gone unanswered and legal proceedings would begin unless I called this phone number. Glad others posted- thanks!

my father called back then laughed at the guy as he has had the phone tapped (for nuisance calls) so he knows where the call comes from and has passed on the information on

received 2 calls today 2 hours apart, left message. claiming tax avoidance and arrest warrant issued..

i also got this scam call saying they are from the tax. sounded like a indian was just reading a book to me.
