It is Bank SA (St George) Westpac calling to validate a transaction. Good service. Can confirm was Westpac fraud team. wespac was st george verify fraud as someone tried to use my account at an atm. Missed call, no message left, odd if Westpac or St George as I don't bank with them genuine call from Westpac to verify a suspicious CC transaction Missed a call. I dont bank with Westpc/St George Bank so not sure why I would be receiving calls from them. Legitimate Westpac Number Got call from that number, hung up, looked it up and called back. It was from Westpac Bank verifying a transaction that i had made earlier on in the day. Was glad i called back its bank of melbourne sydney Legit call. I got a call today from St George. They had put a block on my credit card after I made a number of similar transactions in the realm of $400 (four of them) and $900 (another four of them). I googled the number - arrived here - and called back. A recorded message said it was a bank (gave me a choice of banks) and provided the phone number to call them. I then called my bank and had to confirm the transactions were mine. They had blocked my Visa debit card. If you get a call from them - I recommend you call back immediately as your card is probably blocked. As Nat said - better safe than sorry. Definitely helpful, it was st.george calling me about a fraud transaction. Very lucky to have them. call at 9pm. Received a text message from Bank of Melb. (I am set up for text) regarding fraudulent activity on my credit card.
They called (on a nsw number) when I replied to the message that this was fraudulent activity in the usa using my card. They didn't ask me financial details (which is good).
I then called the 1800 number for Bank of Melb to check that I wasn't being scammed by the text. They confirmed that it was legitimate, and the card has been blocked with a new one to be sent out. Great service!
I have a call from this number (02) 9845 4000 and a caller said it's from the Bank of Melbourne. Scam. Westpac authenticating credit card transaction. Didn't answer and received a text asking whether transaction was genuine, which it was. A block was placed on the card and the yes answer removed the block (within the next 20 mins) I got a call from this number and they didn't leave a message. I looked up number so I could see who the call was from and it said was bank re credit card fraud. I thought it odd that they didn't leave a message because anytime my bank does call they leave a message! So I called my bank and they said everything was fine and it was good I didn't answer the call because they suspect that it was fraudulent. So if you get this call and you're not sure, just call your bank directly to follow up. Better safe than sorry! It was the Westpac group card security checking that a credit card transaction was genuine. I didn't answer and they left no message but sent a text asking for a yes or no to indicate whether it was genuine or fraud. Great service! It was Westpac fraud dept questioning a suspicious transaction (which it was)
