Claimed to be looking for a different person when they called me.
When i told them they must have had a wrong number, they asked me to verify my phone number. When i refused, they refused to just repeat back the number they were trying to call, after telling me they were using an automated system.
This is definitely some kind of scam or data collection operation.

Origin Energy are sometimes very dirty by calling and harassing, dinner time and such, without identifying themselves in a voicemail or a text message. A mobile number in conjunction with this is 0447 210 159. They also use a private number... all of these are best ignored, it's very impolite. Sometimes they are nicer for a period of time... for one or both, of two reasons: a) They save money on employed phone people b) Origin are testing our limits on what we accept as customers and making database to completely eff us over harder in future. They're not as bad as some and that's the current gist I get, yet there's cause enough of concern for me to post all of this.

Caller: Origin I have paid my bill in full and either get private number that hang up when answered or someone gets on and badgers me for my personal details. I asked why they can't see that I'm paid in full, I was told they couldn't discuss it until I verify my identity. I told him I'm a night worker and online student and their calls are mucking up my sleep EVERY DAY! And told them to take me off the call list. He still wanted my details; I hung up and will be reporting origin. I will also change companies but not before getting at least a free month of electric.

Caller: Origin Energy (or their debt collectors) Legitimately forgot to pay the Origin bill. When they rang, I apologised and told the Indian lady I would pay it that night when I got home. She wasn't interested in my assurances. She was intent on setting up a payment plan to the point of being pushy. I told her again that I would pay the bill that night and hung up on her. She called back later that afternoon and I gave her the same response. That evening I paid the bill in full as promised. And then she called the next day. I told her I had paid the bill and after some huffing and puffing, the call ended. And then she called again! I understand that some people need reminders, but if a customer says they'll pay, you got to give them the benefit of the doubt for at least 24 hours, right? And if they say they'll pay, then surely you check before calling them again? A very poor experience

Caller: Supposedly Origin Energy They say they are Origin Energy and that they would like me to pay an overdue bill.... I am not even an account holder. These call started after one of my Apps had been hacked and they clearly have limited information from me, which they are using to get money. Its a scam.

Caller: Origin Energy They have been calling (harassing) every day for weeks. They never leave a message. I only know it's them because I call back. All my accounts are up to date and I have no outstanding business with them. Further, I've received nothing in writing, via post or email to indicate why they are so desperate to get in touch. Fed Up and reporting them to the TIO.
