Called at 5:50pm and hung up when I answered. Guessing it was an automated service.

Whether they are the SES or SES Volunteer association or a pink dog doing back flips....it is against the law to make unsolicited calls..it is another type spam. If you are on the do not call list then complain to the ACMA and the Telecomunications Ombudsman. Even better answer the call and tranfer it to them.

Yes, it's annoying to be called, but they're not a "scam" as Fred suggested (July 18th 2014) - this is from their website: "The NSW State Emergency Service (NSW SES) is an emergency and rescue service dedicated to assisting the community. Whilst the NSW SES is a NSW Government department, it is made up almost entirely of volunteers, with over 200 units located throughout New South Wales. The units comprise of thousands of volunteer members, who are easily identified by their distinctive orange overalls.
The NSW SES Volunteers Association (NSW SES VA) is an Association for Volunteer members of the NSW SES and provides representation and many support services to it’s members. The NSW SES VA works closely with the NSW SES to achieve common goals and represent the voice of its Volunteer members.
The NSW SES VA became a registered charity in 2000 and since then, while not a Trade Union, does support and advocate for its members.
In recognition of the need for the NSW SES Volunteers to have a Volunteer member body and a voice to Government the NSW SES VA was recently enshrined in the NSW State Emergency Service Act 1989."

They call around lunch time, very annoying. Just like everyone else we are on the do not call register, but does not make any difference, still get unwanted calls!

Yes, this is the SES "Volunteers Association", it is a scam using the SES name, but not actually the SES, and not in any way associated with the SES which is a NSW govt funded corporation.

It's not the SES. The SES is run by the government. It's the 'SES Volunteers Association'. Big difference. It doesn't matter how many times we ask them to take us off their list, the calls keep coming every month, sometimes more than once per month.

I am always happy to donate to the SES. It is a worthy cause. They only call me once or twice a year.
