There's nothing more annoying than running to answer the phone when you get one of these phone calls. When answered there is silence, the line is open but no one talks, then after 20 seconds it cuts off. Yes and it seems to be around lunch time for me as well when I get them. I have sent NSW SES VA a message telling them they should stop this practice as it is alienating the community against them, and no one will want to donate.

I recently purchased a phone with call barring feature. To date I have entered 22 nuisance call numbers and have space for another 28 numbers. The calls are registered on your phone but the phone does not ring. I am now virtually free of unwanted calls.

I now do not give to any of the charities that ring, they are now nothing more than a nuisance, best thing get a answering machine, let them talk to that they will soon wake up.

All charities now that ring, get nothing now, as I have had enough, and all calls go the answering machine so I don`t have to listen to all their crap, but we all know how useless Telstra, ACMA,and the DNC register are don`t we

Said from SES. Unbelievably irritating. Do they really think that if they phone people up at inconvenient times and basically irritate the s*** out of them that they are likely to donate money to them? They come to my house as well begging for money-it got so bad I had to put a sign on the door saying do not disturb. Sick and tired of all these 'charities', special olympics are even worse.

This number calls most days. Don't they realise how much they alienate people. As suggested earlier, if they are a genuine charity, why not hold a well advertised doorknock appeal once a year.

Have you ever wonder how one SES branch has lots of equipment. Large boats, jet ski, and four wheel drives. Great fun for the members of the branch. Handy for the fireworks on Sydney harbour just in case of an emergency that needs a state government supplied tarp. Maybe there might be a missing person in the harbour. It's a win win for the branch and the collector. Lots of storms and wind. Let's make more phone calls and collect more. Let's get our leader to dress in his military style uniform and tell them who doing all the work. We had hundreds of calls for help. what happened to looking after yourself and your family.

I have been getting these calls at least once a week, sometimes 3 in one day. I also am on the Do Not Call registry and initially told them not to call again. Now I don't answer this number. How did they get my mobile number in the first place? I am not in the White Pages and have a silent number. Why hasn't this fake SES scam been stopped?

They call me 3-4 times daily for about 2 weeks, then disappear for a week or so, then it all starts again. I just ignore the call.

They have been pulling this sh*t on me for years. Lately i have become so fed up with the callers trying to give me a guilt trip every time i ask them to stop calling. You ask them to stop and remind them despite being a charity you went on the do not call register AND have a private number for a reason. Still somehow they got my number and keep calling again and again and again.
There is a fine line between charity and an organisation going out of their way to bully people into donating. If i give money to every charity that calls these days i will be either broke or scammed (happening a lot lately) yet they don't seem to recognize this. You want money so bad then do the descent thing like Salvation army and do a annual door knock for small and large donations. ($20 minimum is a bit ridiculous) Alternatively set up a stall in a big shopping center and ask nicely without harassing people.
As for everyone else here reading this do what i did and get call guardian (if you are with Telstra) or something similar. It blocks these nuisance calls and forces private numbers to reveal their name etc. Alternatively you can make it so only VIP numbers like family all get through to you and every other number is placed in voice mail. These twits inspired me to get it. -.-
