The Rural Fire Service is run by the state government. The call centre is actually calling on behalf of the Rural Fire Service Volunteers Association - a big difference.
This still doesn't justify having machines dial the numbers and hang up when they're answered, but just saying it's not the actual Rural Fire Service calling.

Hung up on answer even before I could speak. From what I see here this seems to be common and it makes me wonder if this is a computer dialing, to check their old contact lists for numbers that are still live.

I got a call also which hung up. I called back it's the RFS if you call them on 1300 886 067 and ask to be taken of their list. I also did this in February when the same happed can only hope it works this time.

What's the point of ringing and then no speaking - it's rude and annoying. Disgraceful is it is the fire service is doing this ... not to mention the waste of money on calls.

After I answered the phone, they did not speak, and after a few seconds hung up in my ear. Rude.

if you don't want to receive calls from (02) 8524 5952, call Contact Centres Australia on 1300 886 067 and ask for your number to be removed from their call lists ... should stop the calls within 2 business days

They say they are collecting money for Rural fire. They are not. Rural Fire don't call they send out letters to rural land owners for donations only
