Caller John Matthews says he is from The Australian Tax Office and warrant has been issued for non payment of taxes. This is a scam

Received 2 messages on 101 stating TAX Evasion ,rang them and asked to whom was I speaking to at 4pm. Was given the name Jeff Morgan and he said sorry office was closing.This message was alarming to a 73 pensioner,spoke to my daughter who suggested I check out this scam Panic Attack! Pease be aware (02) 8317 1126 is a SCAM! Dated 19 April 2016

"[someone couldn't understand name] from the australian taxation office, the reason we try to call you because there is a legal lawsuit filed against your name concerning a tax evasion and tax fraud so finally before we take this matter into the commonwealth court and finally before we issue a warrant regarding this case kindly call us back on our number which is (02) 8317 1126, don't disregard this message." He didn't even mention our name by the way, I mean come on. How pathetic are you.

2 messages on my message bank when I came home. I called the number. The same voice answered but said "Peter speaking". I said - What are these messages you are leaving? He said - to whom am I speaking. I said "I'm not telling you that, I think it's a fraud" He said - Oh yes sure - M****r F**ker". Charming manners from ATO - (which of course it's not).

When are they going to cut this number off?

NEW SCAM I hadn't had before: Called saying he was NSW Police Detective. Didn't know his rank. Had arrested young man having similar name to me who had unnumbered Visa card which his analyst said was mine. I must phone bank immediately to stop card. Gave me phoney badge number and crime ref but CORRECT phone number for his Police station. Poor Police getting phonebacks for a non-existent person.

Got home today to find a message on my phone telling me that I unless I contact them they would change me and I would be taken to court. I believe this a misuse of phone under the Telecommunications Act and they should be charged. Do not respond to them. They are fake.

Got a message on my answering machine from "Geoffrey Morgan" supposedly from the ATO regarding a legal law suit for tax evasion/fraud. Tried to call the number back and there was no answer. Had a panic attack for 5 minutes until I realised how absurd this was - he didn't identify who exactly he wanted to speak to and this is not the ATOs phone number!!! (I looked it up).

Also received call on my answering machine from (02) 8317 1126. Said to call back asleep. Not likely, just a scam.

I just called back (02) 8317 1126 and he answered ATO & said said hi I have had a missed called from this number.. He said dont give me that attitude. I said I dont have any and want to know who Im speaking with and he said dont worry I will issue your warrant and see you in the Commonwealth court....

have had four calls in the last two weeks, caller sounds like a recorded message and I must ring this number before a warrant is issued for my arrest, ends with have a nice day, called the police station ----- scam

My dad got a phone call from this number today and almost fell for it. If you have older parents please make them aware of this scam. Thank goodness he called me. They were very threatening, saying they were going to arrest him for tax fraud if he didn't give them money. Was an Indian accent too.

Received exactly the same call yesterday - have taped the message and will report it. Haven't yet rung them back but can't wait! SCAM SCAM SCAM. Very cruel.
