Had a missed call from (02) 8049 2850. Called back and got: "Optus advises the number you have called has been disconnected" It's a legit number. This is the number Optus calls you from if they need to talk to you. I was on a live chat with a Optus Representative and they asked me to give them a number for them to call me back on. Rang At 1am said it was Optus and I owed them money asking me to pay. I said no and to ring back the next day. They said they would ring back the next morning. My phone way illegal ported the next day Optus I called back number (02) 8049 2850 reached IVR for a company called Optus. Been calling me for the last three days, either hangs up when I answer or silence. Tried calling back but "Optus advises the number you have called has been disconnected" I was complaining to optus about my high data usage. Then hung up and got call from this number. They did not speak and hung up after a couple of seconds. I just had a call from this number but did not answer Coz its almost 2am.
But today I did contact optus on online chat aboyt my whole data vanishing in half an hour after I had just recharged. It's never ever happened before So I contacted them to find out what happened to My data and then I got this call only 15 mins ago..
Long story short. Got a call from this number (02) 8049 2850) after an Optus live chat (the live chat was successful so I didn't actually need a follow-up call - first warning sign). After getting suspicious, I told them I'd ring Optus back, and I did.
According to the Optus salesperson I rang, apparently it's a legit Optus customer's number, but the Optus salesperson I had called had no idea why I would get a call from that number.
End result: The salesperson said they'd put a note/warning on that account, and they said I'd be fine to blacklist/block this number on my phone. So, seems pretty "Not Really Optus" to me.
I was on tech support with them and they needed a phone number to call this was the number that called me, it's Optus This number called me, disconnected my mobile and hacked into my phone. They withdrew all our money from all accounts. Under investigation by police and bank. Contact police if this happens to you and block all internet banking ASAP. It is Optus call back after on live chat inquiry. Legitimate call from Optus.
Calls from this number are usually regarding some kind of action request on your account. The call I received was in response to a complaint I submitted online the day before.
Got a call and no one answered. I hung up and when I wanted to dial out the other end was still connected.Finally they hung up. I Dialled *69 call and got the number and pressed 1, then got a message "Optus regrets that the number you have called has been disconnected." Really, who are they and how are they able to ring a private number? optus call centre No, doubt it is legit. Says from Optus but check on other Reverse Call websites and see the other so called reasons they call. Someone is trying to port our number from Optus, which has lead us to the TIO, as OPTUS won't tell us who it is. We have been given a "temporary number"which has been with us for over 3 months. Even the TIO is being mucked about by them. It started after this number called us. What the hell is going on? What is "IVR"? Thanks. This number has called, saying it was Optus, then someone tried to illegally port our phone number. It has caused months of grief.

I rang the number and just like many others said, one gets the message that the number is disconnected.
I doubt that it is a legit call from Optus.
Literally seconds after I informed optus I wasn't going to be continuing as their customer and ended my webchat I received a call from the number.
