Received this voicemail call also (I don't answer random numbers). Listened to the voicemail and got concerned so I rang back on the number but it didn't connect.

Then googled the number and found this thread that has eased my concerns. I've now reported it to my accountant who is taking it up with the ATO.

Caller: ATO "Legal Department"

Call from (02) 8011 3826.

Claiming to be from ATO Legal Department with a warrant for my arrest to tax crimes.

Quite clearly a scam call. Just hang up and block the number. They switch numbers every now and then so you might get it again.

This is clearly a scam. The ATO does not operate this way.

Scam call to trick you into paying money immediately for a fake tax debt. really stressful and awful.

Don't answer and don't call back. Scam recording that you're a tax avoider and have legal papers being issued. These idiots are just scum sucking bottom feeders trying to con good innocent people from their hard earned money. Hope that someone scams the pants of them and gives them a taste of their own medicine.

Automated dialler purporting to be the ATO saying I have a tax debt.

Same here... It's an automated voice message (Tax avoidance). Left it to ring out and straight to my voicemail... You can block the call on the mobile phone, however they come back... I experienced this kind of calls at least 3 occasions. Never took numbers I don't know – straight to voicemail – if it's important, they'll leave a message (then you can call back).

ATO scam, don't call them back

I've had several calls from this number and reported it to the ATO. Nasty recorded message calculated to frighten and confuse... "if you don't call back the police WILL come to your door". SCAM

ATO scam - same number over two consecutive days. First was a male automated caller and second was female. Same script about tax avoidance, ato etc.
