Many calls from this number. A scam but can anyone explain why the callers do what they do? What is their scheme? What can they gain? Answers PLEASE!

claim they are from ATO....SCAM!!!

This is a complete scam, they are just using a recorded message to get your tax file number. If you call them they totally make out they are the ATO... you can have fun with them and waste their time using a false name and number if you want and then when you call them out they put the phone down

Rang and left a message claiming they had a warrant for my fathers arrest. We called them back and they answered with Australian Taxation office, when they were questioned they hung up in ear.

This Tax scam is still ongoing it appears. If you get a call from this number (ignore the arrest threat), make sure you lodge it as a scam on the ACCC website.

Number now barred on my phone

Just as I sat down for my morning covfefe this nice man rang my number to tell me the people trying to kick my door down was the ATO. Silly buggers, I took the battery out of the doorbell so of course I'm not going to answer a kick at the door! (02) 8006 7069

Call from someone claiming to be the federal Police, saying that a warrant has been issued for your arrest, and providing a number (which is the same number that called, I checked) which they say is the ATO. Gotta be a scam!

total scam - picked up a call from this number to hear an automated message stating that it was the australian federal police and a warrant had been issued for my arrest because of outstanding taxes- seriously - do they think we're stupid !?? - called number back out of interest - it rings through to a call centre answered by someone with an indian accent. Don''t bother ringing - just another scam!

same here. Incomplete recorded message, male BBC-type voice. claiming to be from Tax Office and there is a warrant for my arrest. "Do not ignore this message". When i rang back the number rang out.

Recorded message which misses the start. Claims to be from the "Taxation Office" claiming I've received a "Legal course of notification". Repeats the number to be called as (02) 8006 7069 with the advice of "Don't ignore". Number matches the caller id on my phone. Why do these guys keep doing this sort of stuff and seemingly getting away with it??? Bugger off!

Scam caller claiming to be the Australian Taxation Office threatening arrest (this is a known scam, you can verify by looking at the scams page on the ATO website). Do not answer, do not return call. Report to scamwatch.gov.au or direct to the ATO.

The same claimed in a recorded voice to be fed police and have been reported to ATO I hung-up at the stage. I am sure . . . . . I believe this. . . . . . some people will try anything, they did not even confirm who answered the phone.
