Scammers pretending to be from Windows Technical Centre. They will act like wanting to help you fix the virus on your computer (when there is nothing wrong with your computer), but are actually trying to get you to pay for something you don't need. They go by names like Suzie Smith, Glen ...etc while they speak with a slight Indian accent.

Had a call yesterday from these guys, telling me all the same stuff as the previous posts, using scare tactics to get you to commit, even saying my local computer tech isn't good enough to fix what is wrong with my computer only they can. while he was trying to convince me to allow them access to my computer I searched them online and found the complaint and scam posts about them, when questioned about this, he said that person was a rouge employee who was ripping off customers but he now doesn't work there, I began laughing hysterically at his response and he became quiet agitated telling me my computer will crash because I didn't believe him. Beware of these guys, I'm not racist in any way but I now go by the motto, if they have an indian accent just hang up.

SCAM!
Fake antivirus scam, beware!
If you've fallen for it, contact your bank, explain it, and get them to reverse the transaction.

Hey all,

Just had a call from a dodgy company, as I'm an ICT Operations Manager, the alarm bells rang straight away..... however they had my personal details.. name, st address etc.. They said they were from the "Windows Service Center".

So I ran with it a bit out of curiosity, they got me to open "Event Viewer" and asked how many ERROR alerts I had (which were a few, but I know what these errors are), however they kept telling me these were from Internet Viruses. Then they got me to open "Windows\Inf" directory in Windows Explorer, and said they were all downloaded viruses.... Now I know they're bullsh*tting me, cause I know exactly what file types are stored there and why.

So I escalated the call to one of their managers, who still insisted there were problems.. I must admit they are persistent bastards.. Then they wanted me to go to www.logmein123.com and enter a 6 digit number, this is the point my ISP just happen to cut me off ;-) so I told them I lost Internet access while I secretly searched for details about them on the Internet. I laughed when they told me their technician could also fix my Internet connection from my Modem to my ISP... LOL.

Eventually I told them we had other things to do and demanded a recall number (which they wouldn't give to start with). The number was (02) 8006 0187, which after a quick search told me they were were listed as "MICROSYSTEMTECH" and also as "REMOTE TECH SOLUTIONS" working from Bengal in India.

This is definitely a scam, they ring and use scare tactics so you think you have PC problems and viruses, then they make you pay a service so they can fix it, but really there is nothing to fix.....

More details and complaints located here: http://whocallsme.com/Phone-Number.aspx/(02) 8006 0187

As stated, they are persistent bastards (they'll call you back, so just hang up or tell them to *^#$^% off).

My mother received a call, and luckily did not listen to the person.
It sounds like a SCAM!

I had exactly the same experience yesterday and then today someone else tried the same thing.   I was on the computer but refused to go to the final degree of signing up so he then became realy annoyed.   I put the phone down but that is the second time he has phoned in two months.   I also live in Queensland. The man today also tried to validate himself and then said he was from a large company so he did not know everybody???!!!I am pleased to see it is a scam as I suspected although he was quite plausible for a while.

Annoyed

Got a call from a guy with strong indian accent who told me there is harmful software on my computer and he will "help" me to fix it. I asked him where hes calling from and his full name and he said hes calling from Microtech or microsystemtech or something similar and his name was Jason Smith. I was like "yeah right..." and when I asked him what software is that he said I downloaded something from internet. I kept asking him how does he know my details he said I filled in a form when I purchased my computer. I told him I didnt and he kept saying I don't remember but i did. He was getting more impatient and as I told him that I am a programmer and know my computer and not to call me ever again he started "I WILL CALL YOU ANYTIME I LIKE YOU F***ING ..." I disconnected then, no point to talk to these retards

Just had this Steven guy call me, I came straight out and told him he was a scammer, didn't phase him, I then let him believe I was on the computer and he asked what I was seeing when I pressed the windows key & R key together, I got him to tell me what I was looking at -he became quite agitated that I would not co-operate and I finally told him I had no computer and he was a scammer, I hung up.
Very dodgy, I know a few people that have had the same call here in QLD.

salau

microsystemtech is a scam in parksreet kolkata

James Trafford

Just to confirm, that this scam is alive and running. Had exactly the same claims as above with the event Log and all these errors. I almost made payment, but i think my bank blocked it. Thank goodness!! Ali Arshad is the name they wanted me to send a payment to in Kolkata. They sent me a email demanding Payment. His name is Charlie Roberts at Microsystemtech. They wanted between 175 to 300 Pounds payment for 7 Years or Lifetime Protection. They did exactly the same with the run command to show this information or errors. Will call my bank today to get some more info about it. But watch out, they are dangerous

mad mike

same story but I got a call from Nelson. They call over your land line and if you hang up they call back time and time again.
He wanted me to log onto www.ammyy.com to help me fix my problem after taking me for a journy through my computor event log.
