They accused me of doing something wrong and that I was likely to be prosecuted
I called the number five times and it rang out. There was no message or offered to put me in a queue or offered to call back so I think this was a fake call to extort money from unsuspecting people

Apparently there is a warrant out for my arrest if I do not call back, supposedly to the Taxation office! Sounded very official, but very dodgy to my thinking!

I received a recorded message on my cell phone then the next day on my home phone, said it was the Federal Police & that there was a warrant out for my arrest and that I should call the ATO on (02) 8005 8286

A 'nice' man.Called a friend today....saying there was a warrant for her arrest.....apparently linked to the Tax Office, with this number......I hate these people, my friend nearly had a heart attack. I reported it to Scamwatch.

I knew it was scam, so when I called them back, I told a guy who had an Indian accent "Fu***you, I'm gonna report police, I am recording this conversation, I will chase you until you are arrested, never forgive you. Don't annoy me anymore!" then, he kept saying "I love you" to me. So weird man. I called them back to threaten them more than ten times, hope they think I am mad and will never call me again.

Call said warrent out due for arrest. SCAM CALL! AVOID!

Scam posing as ATO and I will be arrested.
He keep changing the number. I used to ring it and abuse the guy. Its just one man, possible Asian accent. If you ring, and harass him, he hangs up, and if you ring it enough he leave it off the hook....good less scamming!!!!!!!!!

Just received a call from this number, the moment they said ATO I knew it was a scam and had a good laugh. Even gave me a reference number. I have a warrant out for my arrest, can someone please hide me ;)
I have dealt with the ATO over many years, they have never called me from a landline number, usually a private number or send me an email correspondence.

A msg was left to the effect that an unnamed person had committed an ATO offence and that an arrest warrant had been issued. I should ring (02) 8005 8286. I was told to "Don't ignore!".

Record message claiming to be from Australia federal police, Hung up and blocked the number. They must think we are all stupid.

Well worth ringing them back, it's a comedy. I was amused.

Indian accent said ATO are prosecuting me, then put the phone down.
Didn't even try to get my details.
Next time I'll use my doddery "I'm scared" voice and waste his time.

Just got a call from the "AFP" and they gave me a reference no. and this number to call back. I know that the ATO doesn't have a problem with me, because I have the paid tax bill to prove it.

They rang my Mother’s house claiming she had an outstanding tax debt & there was a warrant out for her arrest.
Recorded British non-gender specific message supposedly from ATO... but definitely a scam. This is the 2nd time this year they have left a msg like this

This number is given on a recorded message that claims to be the ATO in relation to legal action being taken against whoever takes the call or the messages left on an answering service.

ATO is going to arrest me for some tax problem.( approx.)
