I have just had the same problem - called what looked like a Canon support number
told me I had issues - I allowed them access to my computer - would take 45mins to repair $199.00 - said I would talk to my IT people first - he hung up! called back asked if this was Canon support - he said yes -
Did anyone have issues with your computers after you allowed them access - feel so stupid :(

Caller: Indian guy

Indian guy saying he was from Telstra & that they were offering me 50% off my bill for 6months. I did not let him go into any other details as I was busy & I said call me back, I knew full well it’s a scam I’ve told him to call me back twice & he has, next time I will call him out on his scam & I’m sure he’ll just hang up, tried to call the number back and it says it’s disconnected from Optus! beware of the scammers I’m sure he’s going to try and tell me that if he can get into my computer remotely to change something? He’s in for a shock. Dog

Caller: I called Canon Helpdesk when having problems trying to install MG2560 printer

An Indian guy answered and asked for my name, I gave my first name but he also wanted my surname which immediately made me feel uncomfortable. Told him the driver won't install from the disk, I gave him the error code "C0000022", he said he'll have to put me on hold to check what the error code means. As that was happening I found online software to install printer, I downloaded and clicked run then he came back on phone, told him I think I've sorted it, he told me the error code means I have trojans which have infected my computer that have corrupted my drivers, I said I pay a lot of money annually and believe I have excellent security on my computer so do not believe that is the problems, he insisted I give him remote access to my computer, I said no I'm not giving access and finished the call. I am now concerned he has my full name and mobile number and also concerned about the software I installed because now the printer shows it is connected to my computer yet nothing will print even though all tests show it is working.

Caller: Canon help desk?

Followed the instructions printed in the Canon set up mode.
Did not work after logging in and starting the setup.
I was scammed for A$750.00 before my grandson said to hang up.
This was God answering my prayer for help

Couldn't install my canon printer - support help number came up from Canon page which I telephoned. They logged into my computer and then said I had a infected IP address and needed to be repaired. They wanted $ and my details and then I said I think you are a scammer and the webpage is fake. I got rid of him but they were in my computer, I went to the computer shop and they fixed the printer drivers and installed no problem. When checking the phone number etc it's all a scam. Was an Indian man named Joseph Martin?? Dirty Dogs.

Caller: I thought I was phoning Canon Printer helpdesk after unsuccesfully trying to install my Canon printer; a pop up came up for Canon.

They requested control of my laptop which I gave them and I then became suspicious after they did a search for my IP address and claimed my computer was old and slow; it is brand new. I then shut down my computer; hopefully before they could do anything.
They claimed their name was Matthew White when they were clearly Indian.

I had an issue with Software with Tom Tom Support and on their website page a Chat request came up asking how they could help. After specifying the problem no support was given except to call Technical Support on this number - (02) 8005 8013
When calling them they asked to remote into my computer and believing it to be Tom Tom I allowed them to do so. I have been duped as I found another Tom Tom support number on line and when calling them they did not know about this number. It is a scam.
