Told me I had a tax refund. I laughed, and asked how much my refund was. He was very annoyed that I laughed, and hung up.

Received voice text saying word for word... "Australian Taxation Office. We want you or your lawyer to call us back before you face the police officer at your doorstep or at your place of employment."

Looking forward to it lol. We all know it's a scam.
How these scums managed to get our numbers has got me. Reading above msg they seem to be different subjects but still claiming to be from ATO.
Don't allow anyone ask for your details when they call you or to confirm it, they already have all your info if it's legit. Cautious to the Elderly most importantly.

A guy with a super thick Indian Accent called me claim from ATO, that i have "accumulated tax refund" $1600. He gave me three option to send the money: present my government ID number, second i dont know not clear, third is give me my master card number. I asked why i can't receive e-mail confirmation, and he said because this is unusual event caused by recent audit, and because it is their mistake they cant used the usual money transfer bank account. Then he gave the phone to his manager who with a western name - but thick indian accent (to be fair - he was trying so hard not to have accent when he speak - but he loose it when he became emotional). I keep pressing him.. and he treathened me "Okay you are not gonna get your tax refund and cancel it from our system then!".. The conversation went for 16 minutes. I almost believed him.

Automated voice requesting call back.
Scammer.

Call saying they were from the tax department and had money to return to me.

He told me i got tax refund

I got called from someone with indian accent and said calling from ATO and didn't know even my full name and when i refuced to give him a the information he wants, he said so you want to messed up with us...then he hang up.

Claimed to be a 'tax officer' from the ato tried to request my bank details. Clearly a scam

Called saying I had $1451.00 or thereabouts owing to me from previous tax audits and wanted to know how I would like it refunded. Refused to deal with my accountant who does my tax refunds so was obviously scam.

They said from ATO

Wake up guys put more security on your bank account

Dude with a thick Indian accent called me and told me he was from the ATO and that his name was Ray Hamilton. I asked him for proof of identity and he gave me a 4 digit badge number- because the ATO carry badges :) He said I have a refund for some number over a thousand dollars and he needs my bank details. So obviously a scam.
I told him I would ring him back. I fancy calling him and yanking his chain once in a while.

Same here. I told them I'm not going to give you my details over the phone and before I could ask for any confirmation if they were indeed the tax office they hung up. Looks like a scam.

Told me they were from taxation office and requested my bank account details to refund me.

Called on the listed number, stated from Sydney NSW. Requested bank details and confirmation of personal details... its a scam!

Pretending to be ATO, giving tax refund.

Said they needed my credit card details updated so they could send me a tax refund.
He could not verify my tax file number or my postal address.
Called the ATO after I hung up on them and they confirmed that they have not contacted me and there is no refund amount outstanding for me.
