also received a call from this NUMBER saying they were from the Govt and i would get a large amount of money if i paid $195 a man would deliver a cheque within 3 hrs Told the were trying to CON me they quickly hung up.

seems the person on this number is running a scam. they are asking for a money order be sent to them so they can pay us money in return

My wife got a call from this number advising that we were to be refunded 5248.00 from the government for  bank fees charges which I have paid over the last few years. The person confirmed a lot of details with my wife and then asked us to call (02) 8005 7292 to claim the money. I had a feeling that it all sounded a bit suss.I called them up and spoke to an Indian female (I am Indian myself) and was told that some lawyer has one a case on behalf of some 1700 people across the country and that we will be refunded the amount via cheque. Then she asked me to go a post office and make a payment of $199.00 to cover for the lawyers fees. When I asked her why can't they deduct the money from the amount I was being 'refunded' and some other questions, she got a bit irritated. Would not confirm which account the money was to be paid into (wanted to post those details here as well). She said that when you get to the post office to call her to  get the details and that this needs to be done today as she had a lot of other clients to assist. Told her I will call once I get to the post office and then went back to work lol.

told me they are from goverment reclaim expert dept told me that iam owed $5248.00 since when does the australian gov hand out that sort of money to good old aussies

I received a call on my home phone and the chap said his name was: Aston Cooper and was obviously calling from an Indian call center but claimed he was from the Reclaim Expert Dept.... He told me I was to receive $5248 for over payment of bank fees and charges. I was to phone the Ministry of Finance on (02) 8005 7292, he asked for my name, which he had pronounced wrong but I left it at that. He then asked my date of birth, which I am sorry to say I told him but then when he asked me the bank I banked with I knew he was lying...He kept insisting I give him my mobile number, but I didn't.
I then told him I was going to phone the Ministry of Finance and when I did another Indian chap answered. After I asked him several questions, he hung up the phone. Then a couple of hours later I received another call from "aston cooper" to tell me I needed to call the ministry of finance but I told him I knew it was a scam and he promptly hung up.
