Person with an Indian accent claiming to be from the Australian Tax Office, speaking very slowly, as if reading from a script. Wanted first and last name and tax file number “to confirm identity”.
When challenged, caller hung up.

Tried calling back & number cut out. Called back again and rang out and third time called back and got through and no one spoke even through line was open.

Female (Indian accent) claims to be from ATO and I am about to be charged with a criminal offence etc. due to tax fraud etc. I BLOCKED THIS SCAM CALLER

Scam. Said Australian tax office in such a thick accent he was almost unintelligible. Why do these fools keep this up.

Number showed up on Telstra phone as potential fraud/scam. I called back on the landline and nobody answered

Called and wont leave message . if they are legitimate they will leave a message so just another spam number to block

Said they were from the tax office, wanted to know my name and tax file number so they could redirect me to the person who made the call.

I received a missed call from (02) 8005 6926 from Sydney. I called back and always on busy tone

This is a scam call from someone who claimed to work for the ATO. They said their name was Eddie and their employee number was ATM 4091.

Caller: Claims to be the Australian Taxation Legal Office

The number does work if you call it back, so it is valid. However, it is definitely a scam. Do not give any information about yourself to the person on the phone. They do not know your name, and are trying to get money and information about your identity.

Said ATO will be taking legal action against me etc. Have to dial 1 for call to be directed to someone
