Voicemail received from what 'looks' like the above number. It's a digital male voice that is threatening police 'at my front door' if I don't return the phone call. I have called the *actual* ATO (13 21 68) to enquire about this. Talked to a lovely man who informed me that there is not currently any reason for me to be worrying...

I am glad I am not the only one, it sounds like a robotic pre recorded voice and sometimes the phone calls are different. The last one was "This is your final warning, we want you call this number...... to avoid facing a police officer at your doorstep or at your place of employment". It is very annoying

I received a text from the above number but had the number's 6161 before the phone number, saying the on behalf of Australian Taxation Office we want you or your lawyer to call us back before you face police officer at your doorstep. Also the same thing with the number 61 2440 70078.

I received a message from this number and was also told I would have the police either at my door or my place of work if I ignored this and didn't call them back.
It sounded like an electronic device that was transmitting the message.

If these people call you hang up. It is a scam! It is not the tax office.

I also received a call from a private number and an Indian accent recorded message saying that i will be arrested for tax fraud and evasion. Police have a warrant for your arrest. LOL! it was funny at the start however these people don't stop pestering you and persistent with their calls. I have blocked number.

The male voice said there was a warrant for my arrest, from the Australia tax dept. I was to call them to sort it out. I didn't call I search the number and thankfully people had commented it is a scam.

Call from this number - guy said calling from ATO wanted details for tax refund.
Said he knew I lodged my tax refund.
He wanted to know all my card details.
He then said I would receive a pin number on my card.
I received my pin from MY bank on my mobile - and he wanted it ... so he could enter my account ... MASSIVE SCAM

Had a call from an Indian sounding fellow claiming to be from the ATO. At first I couldn't understand him from his thick accent, but then he did not refer to me by my full birth name as the ATO would have, so I told him "really? I don't recognise your number!" and quickly hung up. I have checked the number with the ATO and found that no-one had tried to call me from the ATO and that it was not a registered ATO number. BEWARE!
