We got a call on our home phone. An Indian man was saying that he was from some Window's support centre and that they were recieving reports about our computer sending error mesages about our firewall and malware on our computer. He could not tell me what computer in our house was sending these messages (as we have 2 laptops and a PC that get used daily).
He was wanting me to turn on any computer and he would talk me through where to go to fix this problem. As I said, when I asked him what to give me the details of the computer supposedly sending these error messages, he wasn't able to, all he said was it was one with windows XP (and 2 of our computers have this). He said that we would notice that it was taking over a minute to load everything on a web page of the computers, however none of our computers take this long to load.
I then passed the phone to my Husband who asked the man for his name and phone number and where he was calling from, he said his name was Paul Smith and he was calling from Sydney and gave this phone number (02) 8005 0410.
We believe that he was not from a Window's support centre, but possibly going to give me instructions to load a virus onto my computers.
