Caller type: Scam call
Location: Australia
Caller: man with Indian accent

(02) 6503 3294 man with Indian accent called saying he is from Telstra technical support and someone had hacked into my internet account and was using it to do illegal things and we needed to block them now! At the time I was lying in bed but I immediately knew it was a scam so played along to get more info so other people will know more about this. He asked me if I shared my internet connection with anyone like WiFi and I said yes WiFi and then he proceeded to scold me for sharing it and said we must block them so they can't do it anymore! He asked when I used my internet last and what type of device I used to access the internet. I said laptop then he asked me to turn it on. I said it was a slow laptop and it was booting and he must wait... he said ok sure take your time. Then I made him wait 2 minutes for it to boot (while all this time I am still lying in bed LOL!... just remember if you do that you must keep talking constantly repeating that it is loading and he must wait or they will hang up). After 2 minutes I said it had loaded. He asked about my browser type and specifically said Google Chrome first so I said yes and then he asked me to load it and I made him wait another minute until it loaded. Then he asked me to click on the search bar at the top and go to a web site and spelled it out in individual letters. The site is www.anydesk.com and this is likely to be some kind of remote control software. I did NOT click it (I am still lying in bed remember...) but said I was waiting for it to download and my internet is slow (wait 2 more minutes LOL!). Eventually I said it had downloaded. Then he asked me to run it by clicking on it. Another minute delay went by while it started to 'slowly run' LOL! Then he asked me what I can see on screen. I just guessed and said it was a question. He said yes right it is asking if you want to run it, and to just click yes. I said it was starting to run and made him wait another minute. Then he said on screen there is an ID number that is showing. I was getting tired of this by now so I saw this as an easy way out. He again asked me to tell him the ID number that is showing on screen. I shouted down the phone.....
"IT SAYS THIS IS A SCAM, HANG UP NOW!!!!". Then I hung up LOL!!
