Caller: Female robotic voice purporting to be from Australian ATO Voice tells me they are calling in relation to taxation fraud and I am to be arrested and taken before the Magistrate at the Federal Court. I should call them on (02) 6471 9471 before this happens. The facts:
1 - I'm in Victoria so I'd be contacted by the Victorian ATO, not a NSW branch. 2 - There are no Magistrates in Federal Court. Federal Courts have Judges. 3 - The ATO would write to you about this, not phone making threats of arrest. 4 - If the ATO called, it would be a person, not a robot. 5 - The ATO would leave a name and a department to call. 6 - Reverse look up identifies the call originating from Bega, NSW 7 - The ATO does not HAVE an office in Bega, NSW 8 - I have no connection, now or ever, with the NSW ATO. Why would they call?
