Called me, was an answering machine talking in Chinese. What is this about?

They rang at 14:24 on September 16 to my mobile.Only a few people have my mobile number.I didn't ring back.

Called me I missed it but had. Message bank with a Chinese voice mail.

I answered and got a load of chinese gibberish, I should have replied in aussie gibberish, but I didn't. I just hung up.

Received this tonight and caller is unknown.

This is a strange one. Canberra number held by Telstra. Woman's voice speaking in Chinese. Suspect it is just spm.

Update from my first message about this number calling with a recorded message in CHINESE. I phoned the Do Not Call register and was told that it was a 'known scam' doing the rounds at the moment. I asked how a recorded Chinese message could be a scam and was told they could not elaborate on that, just that it was a 'known scam'.

Not quite sure how a scam works if it's a recording in a language you don't understand, but there you go.

I was called from this number today and heard a recorded message.... in CHINESE. I called back and was put through to a message bank which was conveniently 'full'. I am on the 'Do Not Call' register and this is getting a complaint.
