Scam Caller I had a call from (02) 6261 1111 this afternoon. The Guy "John Miller" is talking on behalf of Home Affairs department. He has my all correct information Name, DOB, Email etc.
He asked me when i am first came to Sydney and i am confused and i asked the correct date of arrival. the he said when we are arrived in sydney then we have to fill some declaration form in this we some some information. SO he said to me, The form information is not matching with my passport or visa. so that Indian immigration department has put my clearance on HOLD. so that u have to leave this country on immediate basis.
i said i can't. then he said ok, so Australian Government provides and another option to get the clearance from department. the option is:
Just be on call never cut or Put hold or Never Mute the call.
after that they asked there is penalty of $989 + $18 is it was refundable.
You got the refund after police clearance by Cash or By Cheque or By Bank Transfer.
Then i make a call to my migration agent and he said this is an scam.
Then i start to asked some few questions to him and he drooped the call.
So this is the case.
They are all bull sit. It is a scam call.
Its a scam call . do not get afraid / give any details to them. Asked them give whatever they are saying in written , they will threaten you that cops will contact you but be firm and so they will hang up. But you won't get a call back. They have called me several times.

I missed the call, returned it and apparently it’s the DFAT. Can’t wait till they are open tomorrow. I’m gonna get myself a ticket to wherever I’m from. Hurrah
Seems to get their data from VFS or Indian government when an application for visa is made. They are scammers. I just got the call with the Smartraveller or (02) 6261 1111 number, and asking me about the visa check clearance. I put off the phone after 20sec..
Police attention is required to track and put them out of world

This Indian 'John Miller' gut called me telling me that done details of my visa need to be re verified. ( Probably would ask for X amount of money afterwards). I cut him short and said you can get back to me via email and hung up, because I'm aware of this being a scam. Don't fall for these leeches folks.
The moment i got a call. Looked up on Google and it landed me on this page.
Same call. Mr (fake) John Miller. I didn't buy what he said, and I asked for information over an email. He just hung up. Don't bother, would be my suggestion. Caller: Indian accent
Indian accent, the guy cant even pronounce properly threaten me that I will be deported lolz.. I said OK. and then he disconnected.
Beware of this scam caller claiming to be John Miller, saying that you provided wrong information and that the Indian govt has cancelled your immigration. All of which can be solved if you either leave the country or do a phone verification and pay the fine via Australia post.
Hang up and don't provide any information.

I had this call from that number. (02) 6261 1111. She said she handling my case for my visa and immediately asked for my birthday for verification. Sounded informal but because i am on the process of my visa i answered with my birthdate. She also speak tagalog as i am a filipino. Im confused! She knows what is happening. I then told her why they didn't email me? And she asked me my email address and said to her if you can see my email address is actually on my application. She seemed to have seen it and told me if that was right. She didn't got the correct one but she got the first part of my email. She then asked me to write the whole conversation and attached it to my application.
I am still not feeling good how she knew about the circumstances of my application. Should i just ignore it?????
Interesting comments. I was also contacted by the Indian guy for the ATO scam, left a voicemail on my phone (of course I never answered it). My number is on the Do Not Call Register so I don't know why/how they got my number. I obviously won't be answering this guy, but possibly same syndicate according to all the reports above mine. I got a call from someone claiming to be John Mathew (who sounded more like an Indian or Pakistan national) claiming that there's some error in my immigration paperwork and that my Visa status had been put on hold.
I checked on VEVO (https://www.border.gov.au/Busi/visas-and-migration/visa-entitlement-verification-online-(vevo)) which doesn't show any issue.
Spammers will use the caller identity exactly same as foreigners affairs landline number... Instead doing this kind of job it better to beg in streets...again they will target soft audience who will quickly believe everything... be careful
