Got the call also, automated computer voice call. Pretending to be from the ATO.

I received a call from this number which was a recorded message stating that the ATO was going to proceed with legal action against me.

I returned the call and got straight through to someone who asked if I was living at an old address. I informed them no and then he said that it must be a mistake and to not worry about it. I pushed for more information and he was very insistent for me to not worry about it.

Received a voice to text message

"Hello. This call is officially a final notice from AGL (sic) Australia Taxation Office. The reason"

I just had a message left on my machine from this number and it also said it was the ATO final warning before they will be taking out a lawsuit, said to ring number which I haven't and won't, what the hell is this garbage they come up with. Another scam.

Got called today. NSW south coast. Did not ATO part. Assumed it was IRS - too fast - no names used - pretty obvious a scam - just an "annoying" one with the mention of lawyers et al

I've had two of these left on my answering machine in the last week

A friend received a call from this number, supposidly the ATO - Australian Tax Office, informing him they are starting a law suite against him and to call back immediately on the above number .
No1. The ATO do not divulge and leave these sort of unsolicited calls.
No2. It was computer generated,with an American accent.
No3. Australia does not use the term ' law suite' that's an American term,we use the term 'legal proceedings'
No4 He's only been in business 13 weeks,so ????
The number they left was actually (02) 6172 1374 SCAM SCAM SCAM

Tax Office Scam No

This number called me and an automated message said something like "This is the final warning from the ATO before we commence litigation against you. Please immediately call our office on [didn't catch the number]." I called the ATO (on the official number on their website) and it is a scam.
