Just received a very robotic voice mail from this number, claiming to be the ATO. Said they have tried to contact me at my residence on a number of occassions (funny, I have no home phone) and not to ignore the call as it is about an audit. Also funny, as I am up to date with my tax!

Got a private phone call this morning with the robot sound play back on the background saying that I have problem on my tax & ask me to call back (02) 6172 0207. Jump on Google straightaway & found this SCAM.
still waiting feedback from my friend who works in the ATO if this is a fraud.

Doesn't matter what, NEVER call back any number if you are not sure and YOU should be the one knows your financial status more clear than anyone else.

I got 3 messages from James Cooper and when I called back, it was a recorded message which means its not the ATO. f*cking scammers.

Got a recorded message as nobody was at home. It claimed that it was from James Cooper from audit division of tax office. Details very similar to the other messages above asking to call audit department (02) 6172 0207 as the matter was "urgent and time sensitive!". I called taxation office phone number 132861 and reported scam.

Had a call today, total scam, Indians.... Same story, word by word. Hang up on me when I asked a few questions...

I just had a call from James Cooper who said he was from fraud dept at ATO. Said I owed back tac.sounded like a scam.

I have got some experience. Look like he is in hurry to get money. This sound, look like and it is scammer. Only, what I would like is to see the guy in person...

This person left a message on our voicemail and I contacted them back and left a voicemail and they called me back... It did not sound right... He said his name was James cooper... Whilst on the phone he spit so very unprofessional if he's from the ATO I told him I would call the ato to forward me to him if it's real and he hung up on me. DO NOT GIVE THIS PERSON ANY DETAILS!

Same, James Cooper say he's a federal agent and lawyer for ATO. tried to read me my rights and warn me that some agents are coming to get me for tax fraud. He didn't make sense so I cut him off.

i got call too. He said from the Australian tax office, i was being audited. its a total scam. Sounded like a very serious issue. You can tell that the machine message was really serious normally it wouldnt sound so scary. and the number they give is just weird. From James Cooper same number (02) 6172 0207
