Caller: (02) 6172 0008

Just got an automated call from this number (02) 6172 0008, (02) 6172 0008, (02) 6172 0008. They claim to be from The Australian Tax Office, ATO, and that there is some outstanding tax issue and a warrant for arrest has been issued. Apparently I need to call them back. :-)

An Indian sounding guy, who called himself Jack Morrison!! Claiming from ATO. There is a legal charge on me

I missed the call and she left a voice message. Said I am in trouble for tax avoidance and to ring this number. I am a registered tax agent and definitely have no problem with the tax office. It is a scam and I have lodged a scam report with the Australian Tax Office.

Suspected a scam and did not answer.

I got a call from this Canberra number today but as it wasn’t on my contact list I let it go through to voicemail before checking here. So glad I did as they would have wasted my time, and theirs

Left a computer generated "voicemail" with aggressive threats!

Said it was the ATO with an Indian sounding man called David Smith.
