Claimed they were from ATO and I had outstanding tax owing. very convincing to start with. very forceful and arrogant. When I told them I was going to hang up and then check i was really speaking to A TO they became abusive.

Caller: an Indian scammer

Calling from the "ATO" but strangely didn't have any of my details, demanding i tell him my name and address... I asked him what the call was about, he yelled at me that he couldn't tell me with out my file details in front of him LOL Gave him the name "jayne smith" and a random street address in Sydney, he was able to access my file (luckily) and confirm i was the main suspect in a fraud case. I replied "oh no that's terrible". I was then asked for my lawyers name and number.. another fake name and number given.. said he will call me back.. I'm waiting... will call him back soon ;-)

Voice Message left ...words mentioned tax violation, paper work returned unsigned/undelivered, arrest warrant will be issued and return the call urgently as the message is time sensitive

Robot voicemail saying if I did not respond immediately, they would sue me an issue an arrest warrant. Scam.

Caller: Scott Morrison from ATO Yeah Right

I said ATO would not contact me in this manner!!! He said that I should go straight to the Police station and get the paperwork for me to sign as I was in BIG TROUBLE...

The same experience, guy with Indian accent, telling me that I have an outstanding balance at the ATO and he is sending a police to arrest me. Asking me how much cash or how much I have on CC. After I said I have nothing because I am pensioner he hung up. I made a report to real ATO and they know about this scam. So my advice, don't answer this number or make a report to ATO. Good day!

Scammers! The guy had an Indian accent and I could hear other call centre members in the background also with an Indian accent. They sent an automated message to my daughters mobile requesting an urgent call. Firstly he wanted to know the time of the automated call received today. When I refused to give him my personal details like DOB and address he became angry. I said is this really the ATO? He said yes the ATO. What a joke! ATO would never answer the phone on the first ring like that without being put on hold. How did they get my daughters phone number??? Suspicious - as I applied for her TFN last Friday, so somehow they are getting personal phone numbers online.

Scammers!! total scum bags

Just got a call. claiming from ATO. just asked with office he said Canberra. asked his name and designation, he said Dan Morgan I enquired more, he cut the phone. the sound like a Asain one

Claimed to be ATO, said money owing and if it wasn't repaid over the phone, I would be arrested and taken to prison. DO NOT ANSWER THIS CALL

Left a threatening messaging saying I was in trouble with the ATO. I called back and pressed them to find out who they were and what the call was about and they get angry then hung up on me...twice

Yup got the same call from this number and left a VM saying warrant for my arrest and claiming it's the ATO. I was so confused why such a personal call as such would leave a robot type message :/ Glad I checked here first before wasting my time trying to call them back.

Tried to make out is was the ATO andd a warrant was being issued for my arrest if I did not call back. Seemed like BS.

Left a voice mail, same as above, saying something was returned unsigned and there may be a warrant for my arrest.

Said it was ATO but surely its a scam

Claimed to be the ATO, clearly a scam

The voice message told me to ring back, stating that a warrant would be issued should I not ring. When I phoned, the Indian sounding guy asked me to confirm my details and he would look into why I was phoned. I hung up and phoned the ATO who confirmed it was a scam.
I have logged it with them.
