Robot call with last warning for legal suite by ATO. SCAM!!

A recorded call with supposed busy call centre background noise, saying they're from the Commonwealth Public Prosecutor's office about a final notice for an ATO hearing. Except, ATO never contacts you by phone initially, and my taxes are in order. Surprisingly, the caller spoke perfect English, with no accent at all.

Same thing as everyone else has described - some weird recording about the ATO and prosecutions.

I also got this, tried calling back, but no answer. Called the ATO, different number so I'm agreeing with you all. Always best to go through numbers you call from the website.

Just got the call - same story, automated message saying they were from Cwealth Public Prosecutions in relation to ATO, threatening legal action. I deleted it.

Received scammed call - pretending to be ATO from this number.

Recorded message to urgently call them back with regards to ATO claming to be from Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecution.

Yes, same here, except the voice was so rushed it was hard to follow. Whatever he was on about merely ended up with some sort of 'avoid legal complications' clap-trap. I have a Masters in Criminal Justice, these guys are rank amateurs. I won't block the number, I'm interested in any recurrence.

Scam call.

Message left on the answering machine by a computer generated voice:

'I am calling from the Commonwealth Department of Public Prosecution to discuss an action against your name by the ATO. Please call (02) 6169 1037 urgently to avoid further legal action'

Called the DPP and they advised this was a scam and that they'd received a number of calls about it.

rang Director of Public Prosecutions who confirmed this scam has been going on for 2 years now

Picked up the call and there was just silence at the other end, which is often an indication of being transferred to an international call centre. Said hello 4 times and then hung up after no response.

Got the same scam call. Robot voice message left asking to call back. When I called back the operator refused to give his name, and started abusing me. He ended up hanging up.

Someone calling "to avoid legal complications" then it hangs up. Scam.

Claimed to be from Commonwealth Dept of Public Prosecutions with an affidavit from the ATO accusing me of taxation fraud. Asked me if i had a solicitor. Also have voice message threatening legal action.

Got this just now, obvious scam call. Was some automated warning from the ATO and then some indian talking so fast you could not understand what he is saying. I was waiting for him to finish so I could give him some free old school aussie country advice but he hung up before I could.

One of my clients called me in fury wanting to know about this alleged action by the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions in relation to the Australian Taxation Office. Once i indicated that I was a Solicitor, they immediately hung up. This is a scam and do not engage with them. I will be notifying the CDPP in relation to this.

Left msg saying law suit against my name from ATO. Blocked number without calling back.
