This is a Tax scam. Scammer says he is from the ATO, and something about a note or petition or other legalese. On my call he made a comment about a registered letter being returned unsigned and that I should call the emergency number on (02) 6152 8639. I've found similar (down to the alleged "Officer Jason O'Connor" name). ATO doesn't use "Officer" as a title. This call is apparently from Skype and uses numbers in the (02) 6152 86xx range (if not more). See also: (02) 6152 8643, (02) 6152 8628, plus other numbers in the range.

Yes received a message on the same thing on ours today as well, wanted all sorts of personal information, dont give them anything, agree on Mike's call on syphilis above, mofo.

Yes diffinitely a scam. I feel sorry for the poor people tricked by this type of scam. These people should be in goal for a long time.

Yes this is a scam, if you call the number back they will ask for your phone number. if your phone number is not on the list they will hang up.

Came up on my phone as "Scammer Blocked". Used the Reverse Australia App, first time I have seen a Scam alert from the app.

Yet another scam caller preying on the elderly.

Robot voice claims to be a woman from the ATO, the speech (apart from obviously being robotically formed) is in bad engrish, so was suss right off the bat. not even going to call back. I didn't even bother calling back as obviously fake.

Also got the same message from Vincent Matthew with a South African accent talking about an arrest warrant, blah, blah, blah. Glad that all prior posts have identified this as a scam and am hoping no one else has fallen for it...

Received a message on my home line from this number (02) 6152 8639. I rang the number back several times. No answer. The message left was disturbing and I wanted to know who they were and why they were calling. The call was difficult understand and no-one by name was addressed to receive this message. Be wary. This call was unfounded and I would love to report them to police

Same as all the other messages - had caller with indistinct voice saying he was from the ATO, something about pensions and there was a warrant for arrest and to dial the number. A quick Google brought up this site.

Yes, this is a Tax scam. A voice message was left on my home phone from the same officer 'Vincent Matthews' claiming that the ATO was investigating my files and about to sign an arrest warrant for me having misfiled my taxes. The phone number was (02) 6152 8639. I rang the number back and spoke to officer 'Jennifer Smith' who said that I had to pay $14,999 owed to the tax office or an arrest warrant will be issued today. The police later confirmed that this was a scam and that 5 other people had reported similar scams today. so, be aware and don't believe these people..

Yep, got the same call from this number at 7.00am WA time! He was lucky it went to my voicemail, otherwise 'Officer Winton Matthews' would have heard me testing my smoke alarm, which happens to be located near my telephone...
