Got a call from Kenneth Mathews on answering machine to call back as soon as possible on phone number (02) 6152 8615. In the message was reference to a law suit for tax evasion and tax fraud. I thought this amusing as I am a self funded retiree drawing down on my super. I rang the number and was confronted by an aggressive sounding male who threatened me with the above issues. When I suggested he put them in writing to me he hung up. I then phoned the same number and when I identified myself he hung up again. Hope this is of help to others.

We also received same landline message from 'Kenneth Matthews' - legal petition against name for tax evasion, tax fraud. Thanks for confirmation above that this is a scam...

Requesting i call urgently as a legal case was being filed against me for tax evasion and fraud

Got the phone call from this number (02) 6152 8615. The man called himself Mark Davis and wanted me to follow his ATO procedure to go to my bank immediately to withdraw $6k.

Note same thing happened to us exact same recorded message as mentioned above. Willoughby NSW area.

I just got the same thing. Sounds like its a computer generated voice (and a bad one at that) asking noname or lawyer to call back on this number.

Message left on my landline from (02) 6152 8615 saying we were being investigated for tax fraud. Caller identified himself as Kenneth Mathews from the ATO and had a heavy foreign accent. The ATO do not call people. Their communication is through correspondence. This is a hoax and fraud attempt. Report it to the ATO.

Call received from (02) 6152 8615 from a "Kenneth Matthews" saying he was from the ATO and we needed to call him back as a law suit had been filed against 'your name'

Received a similar call from (02) 6152 8615 today.
Asking to contact as I (no name ) have been reported for tax evasion and tax fraud. The number does not ring and just cuts off.
The difference being that the caller is identified as Kenneth Matthews

I also received a purported message from the ATO on 6.7.15 in Sydney Australia. As much as I could understand from the foreign voice on our landline answering machine (not mentioning any actual name):
"This is an automated message from the ATO. My name is Jason O'Connor {sounded like Acuna} calling you from the Australian Taxation Office. The nature and purpose of this call is just to inform you there has been a lawsuit filed against your name in the common realm court house of your .......... {indecipherable} and before a police officer will approach you with an order for your arrest you need to contact the ATO on (02) 6152 8615. I repeat my name is Jason O'Connor from the Australian Taxation Office. Thank you and have a wonderful day". The ATO does not operate like this nor use such a phone number.

I received the same call from some on claiming to be Jason O'Connor from the ATO claiming a law suit had been filed against 'your name' (no name given) relating to tax evasion and the a warrant may be put out against 'you'. Jason O'Connor gave the same number (02) 6152 8615.

Message received on landline voicemail. From a person stating he was from the Australian Taxation Office. He said his name was Jason O'Connor and there had been a law suit filed against our name, and before the police arrived at the door we needed to call him back on (02) 6152 8615.
