ATO Scam - Do not provide any personal information

Received a call from this number and when i answered, it goes straight through to an answering machine claiming they are from the Ato. When i call them back, an indian guy claims he is blah blah from the ATO using a western name. Purpose of his call was about tax debt, federal police with a warrant of arrest and some kind of tax fraud bull sh*t.

i have contacted the actual Ato to report this number for scamwatch.

Just ignore or block this caller if you get a call from them. It's some indian call centre set up to scam people.

Got a robot-voice recorded message call from the "ATO" demanding a call back in relation to a very urgent issue regarding tax. Scam!!

Nice guys very helpful and allowed me to go into an easy payment arrangement.

Indian scammers pretending to be from ATO.
Best to block this number on your phone.

Pretty sure it's a scam, they called about an urgent matter and asked me to authenticate to them. I asked them to verify themselves to me as it kind of felt wrong and they hung up.

Claims there is a criminal case against you and asks you to ring them back. Clearly a scam.

I've had a call from a similar number before, twice. I ignored this one. I missed the first call and called back speaking to a man with a very strong accent who said he was from the ATO. I answered the second call. A computer voice told me my house was under surveillance by the ATO and I was to be subpoenaed for a court case.

This is a scam. The ATO will not call, and especially not leave a VM with a computer generated voice about a "critical issue".
