This person claimed to be from the ATO. and asked for my tax file number saying there was a criminal case against me.

I just got a message from exactly the same number saying the same thing.
Rang the ATO and they confirmed the ATO did not try to contact me and it was a scam.

Wow I just received a phone call claiming from the ATO saying that they've submitted a criminal lawsuit against me because of a tax issue period 2014-2015. They also said the police will come and arrest me and put me in jail for 72hours if I hang up the phone. They said I have to come to the court with $40k penalty or 5 years imprisonment result. I was told I can avoid this if I able to make payment of a lump sum today. I was quite intimidated but after a while talking to the 'supervisor' trying to negotiate, something doesn't add up. Decided to hang up the phone and called my accountant, found it was all scamm!! Be careful friends if you receive a call from this number, do not answer!

Claimed to be calling from ATO and left voice mail on moile phone: "Do not disregard this message because it relates to a critical matter. Call back urgently and do not disregard this message".
Deleted msg and reported to scanwatch.gov.au

I've a message from the same number that claimed to be from ATO, ask me to call back asap. When I called back he was asking for other name that never known to me. He spoke with an Indian accent, I can also heard from the background also spoken to someone with Indian accent.

i absolutely couldnt resist. i rang back and gave them a mouthful. At first he laughed because he thought he had me hooked...but then hung up on me after Id given him feedback on his message.

Had this number call me and leave a voicemail. Message was left using a text-to-voice synthesiser that sounded extremely fake. Said they were the ATO and needed to speak to me about an urgent matter and that I shouldn't not disregard the message. Obvious scam.

I got the same fraud call from Matthew Clark for legal actions for my tax. Reported back to ATO and they have confirmed that this number has been lodged for ATO SCAM.

I got a call. It's amazing how real it seems. Told me I would be arrested immediately for tax evasion. ATO will never threaten you with immediate arrest.
Do not answer.

100% ATO scam

Absolute ATO scam. I called back and put some pressure on him and he folded like a camping chair. He calls himself Officer Matthew Walsh - but he has a Phillipino accent. Dodgy bastard.
