- Setanta scam
I had the same experience as you. i only applied for 1 month subscription to just watch the euro champioship. But was suprised to see that they continued pass one month anyway. They kept hassling an dcalling and i kept getting letters. only way to deal with them is cancel your credit card that way they cannot continue to bill you and then dont answer there calls. - Big G Melbourne
In case anyone is interested this number is from SETANTA SPORTS a company that provides an extra pay per view channel on Foxtel. The number they use is (02) 6111 2042 41 43 etc
This is not a scam but IMO they are the biggest rip-off merchants you are likely to come across. I paid $16.99 to watch a single live game last January only to find later that the $16.99 would be a monthly carge coming out of my account automtically.
I decided to cancel that arrangement but found nothing on their website to do so. I tried Foxtel but they said that Setanta was a seperate comapany and they had no control over my subscription. Eventually, after much searching, I found a forum where I was informed that the only way you can get out of the agreement was to write to them. Not by email nor even by fax, no I had to write a letter, stick it in an envelope and post it the old fashion way.
That way, by the time I've actually remembered to do it, found the time to do it and they actually recieve the letter and decide to do something about it, another payment or more has been taken out.
So, not a scam as such which means you can call them back and give them a piece of your mind because it's the only phone number you'll get them on. - Big G Melbourne
