Caller: ATO scam

Voicemail stating there has been a lawsuit filed against me and that I should call some number and quote something or other or I would be arrested immediately. I called the number back and the same person who sent the voicemail answered the phone claiming to be the ATO. I said I had a missed call and he asked if it was a voicemail and suggested I listen to the voicemail again and ring back. No verification of TFN or anything. Definitely a scam!

Same thing. Suggested an arrest. Can someone close this number or at least trace it.
We don’t need this during Covid.
I would like to use harsher words to describe these people.

'To inform you that the lawsuit is getting filed under your name'. Also a Canberra number. wrong state, no prior info = scam.

Pre-recorded for me too.... ato do not use robocall pre-recorded hooks...... when in doubt people.... just call your friendly neighbourhood assistance line..... if you can get through

A guy just called me saying the same thing but asked for 2grand when I started fighting him on the phone telling him that he needed to listen to me for a change and I gave him all the facts that I wasn’t in debt he got angry and hung up on me.

i got a call from this number and called the ATO straight away to see if it was legit and if i was actually going to be arrested.
The ATO advised its a scam and they never have automated voice messages threatening people that they will be arrested.

Watch out recieved call claiming to be from the Australian Defence Force and if i didnt call back from the voicemail i would be arrested, called back and cant speak english well, speaks like rap god indian speed and didnt intoduce himself at all, and then wanted my name for database searching. When i queried the inproper comms from ADF like i know how they talk and all over the phone he hung up giving up.

ATO would not make this call. Too aggressive. Scam...meant to intimidate. IGNORE IT!

I didn't answer as phone suggested it was a fraud call. Went to MessageBank...recorded message about a lawsuit. Blocked number.

The voice sounded mechanical (autobot) and prerecorded. I immediately cancelled the call and put the number on my blacklist.
