Jason O'Connor has the worst Irish Engrish accent I have ever heard! I love how he reads, very badly, from a script. Pity anyone who falls for this type of scam. I look forward to the police coming for me with a warrant because then maybe someone could of get to the bottom of this and flush out the criminals!

Ditto, as all the above comments, got home after work to this message, and I did freak out initially as I am actually quite behind in doing my Tax. Though after a few minuets, I thought it to be unusual that there would not be any pre warning with letters etc, And that a Tax office would not be so heightened with there call. Luckily my sister put me onto to this site, and wont be calling back thanks to all of you and my sister. : )

Greta, just be mindful that the ATO would never, ever phone saying things like that. Just hang up.

Unfortunately, Jason O'Connor called my home number on Tuesday 2nd May 2016 and left a recorded message which sounds exactly word for word, like he has with every other potential fraud victim. Firstly, his name is Irish and he sounds like a man from Mumbai? When I called him back 2 days later, which was today, he asked me what number was the message left on, then he said, "Maam, Could I start with your full name?" I exclaimed, how about you tell me who you're referring this threat of arrest warrant and I'll see if this relates to me or not? He then proceeded with, "O'Kelly, is your name O'Kelly?" I exclaimed, "Who? No!, You must have the wrong person". He said, "Maam, then in 45 minutes time a local police officer will be coming out to serve you with a warrant for your arrest if you do not co-operate. Then he said, "Maam, what is your full name and date of birth, I said, "No, I will not give you any information, I believe this is a scam call, and I said to him, "How do you feel Jason, when I get off this call from you, I will be calling the ATO to investigate who you are and the contact number you left on my message machine, and I will be going to my local police station with a recording of the message you left on my machine and lodging against your threats?" He then put me on hold with some sort of elevator music? I hung up! Definitely a scam. DO NOT GIVE ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION TO HIM AND DO NOT BE ALARMED BY HOW AUTHORITARIAN HE SOUNDS. The ATO would not leave a message on your phone they would simply send mail as they do when they need to contact you.

Same - scam - Jason O'Connor ringing from the ATO. Pre-recorded voice. Actually sounds like it was originally for an American audience.

"Jason O'Connor" left 2 identical messages on my home phone advising I (but didn't address the message to either myself or my husband) had been investigated for tax fraud and as a case had been initiated against me in the high court in my state or territory (he didn't identify the state we live in), a warrant had been issued for my arrest and a police officer would be over soon to execute it. "Jason" (who had the most Indian sounding Irish accent I've ever heard) advised the only way I could stop it would be to call him back on (02) 6064 2057. Instead of calling him, I confirmed with the police I do not have any warrants out for my arrest and the lovely officer laughed and stated that he could categorically confirm it was a scam and not to waste my time calling back.

I had a message left on my answer phone . Yes laughable. But checked it out on ATO website and it is amongst their scam alerts word for word. As if we don't have enough to put up with without these idiots.

Just had a call from this number from an "Officer Mcmillan" supposedly from the ATO fraud squad about tax evasion! his accent did not fit his name so I became suspect from the beginning, but I was on to him, and as soon as he knew this, he hung up! rang the ATO and was told the call and the number was not theirs and there was no outstanding issues with my tax! so beware!

A message was left on our voice mail to say that it was James O'Conner calling from the Autralian Taxation Office and that they have a law suit for a tax evasion from us and to contact them immediately before they take action or our local police arrest us. I called this number this morning and this same person told me the same details that was left on the message. I asked what was the nature of the tax evasion, he said he cannot give me any details until he gets some details from me, when I insisted to get more information about the evasion he hung up. Had 2 more calls and this time my husband called him and gave him sh*t and said that he will be happy to be arrested and come over with the Federal Police to meet him to discuss the issue. He should be arrested not us.

As above, received this call on 26.April.2016. Did not call back, as an obvious scam, but seniors could be duped. Caller had bad accent for an Irish name like Jason O'Connor.

Have received two suspicious messages from 'Jason O'Connor' - both identical, so probably pre-recorded - saying he was calling from the ATO and that I was being investigated for tax evasion. I believe it is a scam as I am told that the ATO will contact by mail.
