Just got a dodgy call from the "ATO' from this number. I challenged him on the call and he hung up. I called it back and they answered as the tax office - police should chase this up.

Received message on home phone making same threats from ATO as per comments from Phil on 1st March. Based on Phil's feedback, I will delete the message. This blog has been very helpful - thank you.

Scammers claiming to be TAX office, do not ring them back

Person claiming they were from the ato and that they had initiated criminal proceedings against you for tax evasion and fraud. Asked to ring back on this number but it does not answer and is 'not connecte'

Obviously, some scumbag , Indian origin, threatens with violence when asking him questions, may he and his mates have a miserable life!

Just got what sounded like a scam call listing this number for callback. Threatening legal message of some kind, missed the first part because it went through to messagebank

Got a threatening call about a criminal record being traced in regards to tax evasion left on answering machine to call (02) 6064 2040. Got to be a scam I always pay my taxes

Call threatening that we must call back otherwise there will be strong consequences requiring legal defense.

quite convincing SCAM ... wanting personal info, with a threatening message left demanding legal costs, stating they are from the ATO but are not! beware

Threatening phone call from ATO headquarters. Whoever they are. Says we are being charged with tax evasion and tax fraud. Just another scam.

Just received 2 threatening messages on my home phone suggesting that a case for tax fraud had been given via the ATO to the director of public prosecutions Canberra.
I called back more out of interest to get a man that sounded like he as Philippino accent. He started asking me for personal info such as my Tax File Number etc...
I told him he should have this already if he was now contacting me from the ATO.... he then suggested he needed me to confirm this data (I refused of course)
I started to ask him some questions about his location in Canberra which he could not answer - then he hung up.........

Just received threatening message about ATO legal action. Signs off with 'Have a blessed day' though!
