This number appeared as a pop up on my dad's computer telling him he had a virus and to call this number. They then convinced him to pay $800 by credit card and install a program that allowed them to access his computer remotely from India. After I looked into it I realised the company did not exist and was a scam. Obviously they stopped answering the phone and played the "I can't hear you" game. Do not believe anything these people say.

1800 952 983 : Re-routed numbers to a nasty and sophisticated call centre based in India that pretends to be working as or for Microsoft support team.( Apple computers are an easy target). They are FAKE, FAKE, FAKE. Those scums are installing malwares and viruses from popups or with bundles software as Adobe Flash. More importantly, Adult sites are 98% to be found as their favourite way of passing their viruses. Your internet browser suddenly freeze and your computer is being frozen. Best way is to shut your computer down ( by pressing power button for 20-30 to seconds ...or, Press ESC continuously for 10-15 seconds ...or to make sure, unplug Your computer). Fear and stress will take over with messages saying that your computer has had a virus attack. Restart with a clean browser cache and a run of a antivirus if you have one. Talk to someone (to your local computer guy) if you are not reassured or still in distress. This is a free phone call number, that’s targeting Australian audience. Note that nothing has changed in your computer system but check if some extensions had been added to your browser. If you do a lot of surfing the net, always run Task Manager that can stop any further damage. Do not let those curry scumbags win.
CALL YOUR BANK, CANCEL YOUR TRANSACTION.

He gave this number after an employee responded to a POP UP saying their PC was infected with a virus. This was the call back number.
Charged US$599 for his support and conned the employee into giving him access to his PC remotely. Told the employee there wasn't a firewall installed (rubbish) and was going to install some software to remove the virus.
we caught this as it was happening and disconnected PC from the internet.
'Ron' called straight away and asked what happened. Told him he was a scammer, and cancelled transaction and the Visa card used.
He had given his 'MS" employee number, trying to give the impression he was a Microsoft Employee.
Norton's trail indicated he was using GoToAssist to access the PC
An Indian named Ron Adams? Please....
the receipt was from ecommerce.kcbgroup.com

BEWARE! Educate everyone dont call numbers from Pop Ups or follow fix-it links!

Caller: Garmincare

I tried to update my Garmin GPS maps. They have set up a site called Garmincare.
The maps will not download fully. When you ask for help they will ring you back on this number 1800 952 983 and tell you the gps map update will not download because your computer has a trojan. They offer to fix it for you and gain access to your computer remotely. It is a scam. Do not click on any of their links. Do not give them access to your computer.
The name they used were Jordan Thomas and Ricky, but they were Indians.

Caller: Company they claimed was Technomatic.

Said they worked for Microsoft, could work and clear my computer of the virus. The same procedure by others that have told their story hear, mine was exactly the same. I paid $347.00 for them to "fix" my computer. They so called work on it and cleared my problem... I was able to call my card company and put a stop payment..luckily in time for them not to get my money. They sound very convincing. Had geeks come out to check that they had not left any future problems in my computer. But I do have their contact scam mumber still left on my screen in the bottom right hand corner which is annoying because I don't know how to remove it and geeks couldn't either. So I will be very aware if the same happens again but of course maybe by a different name.

These guys totally scammed me. I ended up paying 2 installments of $550 US to unfreeze my computer and to give me unlimited protection. Calls went from Microsoft to CISCO to CISCO approved Tweak Software tech support and bank accounts are Nairobi. DO NOT go down this track. Disconnect your computer and take to a trusted source to fix. I'm now having to live with their continuous harassment via email.

You call them in response to pop-up. Supposedly CISCO, then Tweak Software, then RN Tech. The 'warning from Microsoft' is bogus but fooled me as needed to use computer urgently for work... money went to different account, one an individual (seemed a subcontinental name) - and when asked as I looked up RN Tech - Bangladesh, I asked and they said in Sydney (the second time) Brasbane (the first time) ... but the second payment (social and email) went to a company account (Nairobi?) ... What do I do now? My computer was frozen until they unfroze it ... waht do I do now?
