We also received a pop up message on our computer saying to contact Microsoft on that number. It stated that a harmful virus was on our computer and our private details are being hacked and we weren't to restart or turn off the computer - too bad..we did..and nothing happened. SCAMMERS!!!!

Got a virus alert popup on my Macbook pro after clicking on a Facebook "suggested post" in my newsfeed. It appeared to be an Apple Safari alert (even though I was using Google Chrome) suggesting my system had been infected with a virus with traces of Spyware and that I should ring this Apple Support number for help in virus removal immediately. It was asking for permission to download a file. Cancelling that permission request put it into a loop until all resources were tied up. A force shut down of Google Chrome was required, followed by cleaning out the Chrome cache for the last 24 hours, then a system reboot. All was good after that. It is a Phishing scam with a little bite to it.

My dad got a pop up message, clicked on it and his screen filled with scrolling data and virus alert. Microsoft Tech number 1800 952 172 provided and dad called. I overheard conversation and dad was asked to provide details. I asked the "Microsoft Tech" to hold and checked number. He was gone by the time I saw this page and alerted dad. Restarted PC, all good.

Anyone who is receiving calls from this number should know that the VoIP provider is www.symbionetworks.com and you can check for a numbers VoIP provider here https://www.thenumberingsystem.com.au/#/number-register/search . I suggest we all call Symbio Networks each time we get a scam call from one of their VoIP customers and then maybe Symbio Networks will do something. Symbio Networks number is 1300 789 653. You must realize that Symbio Networks gets paid by the scammers that use their service and this is the reason Symbio Networks appear to be providing a safe haven to scammers.
