1800 940 711 Is a selling agent (Pure Select Home shopping) for mail brochures advertising health products with guaranteed refunds; who can not tell you any contact details for the makers of the products they are selling. Example " NEM Joint Flex" or Cell-Regen". How and why is this permitted.

My partner & I have been taking cell regen for the past 2 years now & find that it's very beneficial to our health, we have had no issues with the 1800 number when we call to make an order. Each order we've made we generally receive the 6-8 month supply within 2-3 weeks

I have also received brochures in the mail with this phone number saying if is from Pure Select Home Shopping ,PO Box 135 , Welsh pool WA but when you phone this number you are answered by someone in the UK.
Selling prebiotics advanced pills , guaranteeing weight loss. When I asked where these pills are made, I was told they didn't know!
This looks like a scam and should not be allowed in Australia.

Caller: My elderly neighbour keeps receiving brochures with only 1800 940 711 on it

I am a Graphic Designer and can see fake work when I see it. This company's name and logo, and details are not on their brochures nor contact details other than 1800 number which anyone can set up. Case study photos in brochures are all marketing photo library pictures and are not of the real people. They may have taken legitimate photos of farms and other things but the money they can make out of selling possible sugar tablets across the world far outweighs the cost of photography. These tablets are probably falsely manufactured at some overseas dodgy place because there is no institute base or head office that is known. Very dodgy. I thought it would have been illegal to sell health products without a company name, institute, body, ABN and so forth. My neighbour is a sucker for them and still doesn't understand when I try and explain how dodgy it looks.

There should be an answering service on the 1800 number to at least give a bit of confidence your order is still being processed. Nobody answers and the call drops out after a few minutes. Guess it is just wait and see?

Every week I get two lots of junk mail from this mob … don’t know how the heck they got my name and address. The only company I have ever bought Glucosamine from is Aust Naturalcare … I can only presume they have sold my contact details on as I don’t buy any other health products on line or over the phone. Have written to them complaining … No reply. From now on I will only buy from Chemist Warehouse and pay in cash. Not happy Jan !

Caller: Read a brochure

My mother-in-law regularly receives these outlandish brochures! This one is now stating you can lose weight by having a drink of a ridiculous concoction of herbs in the morning then eat whatever you want!!
Very dodgy photos of a Prof Jackson and a Prof Mitchell. It’s called Slim-5-Ultra. Nothing on the internet about it- funny that! “Lose up to one stone a week- no dieting and no exercise “ LOL

I received mail promotion for the pre-biotics promising weight loss. Before placing the order I checked with the call centre to see if they new if the product works for people with only a small weight loss to achieve (< 5 kg). It was not clear cut but they promised money back if not successful. The product was NOT successful in my case.
I followed the instructions for a refund and I received the refund.
Neither the supply nor the refund was fast, but given the mail processing times during COVID it was not extra-ordinary. I am satisfied that the refund was provided as per the organisations commitment if if results not achieved.
The contact centre staff were helpful to confirm the process to follow

I just wanted to thank you for the information you gave about Pure Select Home Shopping. You have given exact details about their brochure and company details, etc., and I believe that makes a huge difference when making an informed decision. I wish there were more people out there that do what you do. So many people say dodgy with next to no details.
Again, thank you.

After reading the brochure, I noticed in the list of ingredients one which is used elsewhere for the repair or DNA. As such thought it may be ok to try. I ordered for four months as didn't think much could be achieved in just one month even if 90% would be the cell repairing vitamin. Have gone now for three months and and not one of the many claims has been experienced. Tinnitus? Nothing! Eye improvement? Nothing! Cholesterol drop? No difference! Anything? Nothing whatsoever! Nothing! Nothing!!!
A scam? Definitely. AUTHORITIES, DO SOMETHING, URGENTLY.

Caller: Mailbox catalogue

One of the catalogues from "James Andrews, Head of Research and Development, Pure Select Home Shopping" with 'notorious number': 1800 940 711, promoting 'Fountain-of-Youth Secret' claimed from "GENGHIS KAHN' Ancient" with misspelled the name 'Kahn' as to KHAN several time..no shame(?). (Other Khan: Kublai Khan, Ogedei Khan but NOT "kahn".
