The number purports to be Microsoft after my computer got locked by a malicious app on Facebook. A female voice implores me to call this number to get my computer unlocked, do not log off (you can't) or turn off your computer (I did). I picked the malicious app is not from Microsoft at all as it has technically incorrect statements regarding IP address.

Got the same. Rang the number and someone tells me that Sam Scott is their alias name for the conversation. Something wrong there i am sure

This mob locked the PC (on Facebook at the time) with visual and audio info': "Your computer has been infected". 45 minutes and $300 later got my machine back - totally wrecked. Should have powered down and waited ten minutes. Cyber criminals no doubt. They should be tracked down, investigated, closed down, prosecuted to the full extent of the law, and jailed.

clicked a link on my Facebook and popup froze my computer, rang this number as the screen told me spoke to a Malaysian lady who told me i would need to allow them access to my computer and would charge me to unfreeze it. I hung up the phone and call Microsoft's actual phone number and was simply told to switch my computer off at the wall and restart it.

Phone call saying that my computer was "massively" infected and was about to permanently crash. First voice was female (computer generated I think) and I rang the number - Male voice saying from Microsoft. As above. I scanned computer - nothing present. USUAL SCUMBAGS

They are also working Apple computers. One of them told me he was in Perth. Losers

Same experience yesterday. I spoke to a lady who wanted to take control of my computer and said she was from microsoft. I did not fall for it. I was also on facebook at the time.

my wife got the pop up, called the number and was told it would cost $ 281 to unblock her computer. these scammers were very insistent. She hung up and after rebooting and doing a virus scan no problems.

Rang the number, spoke with a female who wanted to take over control of my computer to diagnose the problem. Alarm bells rang when she asked if it was a personal or work computer, and what sort of anti-virus protection I had. Fortunately a friend rang on the other line and told me to hang up immediately as it was a known scam.

my computer was locked after I tried to access a link on face book. I rang the number and an indian lady answered, she told me they had to log on to my computer and she was a microsoft employee. I said this doesnt seem right and questioned her about who she was and called her a scammer and hung up

Same experience, only I found a button that allowed me to excite the pop-up. Also found a file in my download folder the next day telling me the same story and flashing at me. I have scanned my PC for viruses and looks clear, also reported incident to Microsoft.
