Just a note, 1800 791 552 is listed on the ATO page titled "if you don't lodge" (google "ATO if you don't lodge") which means reminders if you forgot to put in a tax return or something. So, naturally if you call the ATO and ask if you have a debt they will say "no", because that's not what the number is related to. Not a scam.

This call is legitimate, Probe Group acting on behalf of ATO, at first I thought it was scam but then looked into Mygov account and had outstanding activity statement to lodge and that is what the call from Probe group was about

said he was from probe group for the Taxation Dept quoted above number to call back

Caller: Private number

Message left claiming to be the Probe Group acting for the ATO. Phone number left was 1800 791 552.

Caller: some liars who claimed to be from the Probe group but when I probed them wouldn't admit as to where they were from.

These people are liars and theives. Have nothing to do with them.

Claims to be from the Probe Group and asks to call back on 1800 791 552 re a tax matter. Check with tax office and there's no debt
